JC Interview Exclusive:
Adam Hunter

Adam Hunter

Funnyman Adam Hunter has a neck for making people laugh with his unique take on his surroundings. One of the top finalists for Season 8 of NBC's "Last Comic Standing, Adam has been performing and working non stop since he last appeared on that show. Recently, we caught up with the Stand-up Comedian who openly shared some on his personal experience and what he is doing now. Enjoy!

Isaac: Were you always funny when you were growing up? Were you considered the class clown?

Adam: I was the class clown until I got hit by a car in the 3rd grade. I was on my way to my job which consisted of sweeping the floors at a pharmacy and had my baseball cards in my pocket. A car hit me and I went ten feet in the air and was knocked unconscious. All the neighborhood kids gathered around me saw that I was passed out and stole my baseball cards. I was in the hospital and my teacher came and visited me--so I decided to not make his life so hard.

Isaac: One of the reasons why I enjoy your performances is due to the fact you bring some of your own personal and family issues to your audience in a hilarious manner. Was this something that you originally thought about doing or did this happen by accident?

Adam: I try and talk about my life because I am not as creative as other comics--so I just personalize everything. Plus it becomes therapeutic.

Isaac: You have performed in a variety of places. What has been one of your favorite spots to perform at and why?

Adam: I love performing for the military. Those guys deserve to laugh the most and seem to get my humor. I have been to Japan, Korea, Guam, Cuba, Africa and Bahrain performing for them.

Isaac: What was the biggest draw for you to want to pursue a career as a Stand-up Comedian?

Adam: I love making people laugh, I love the freedom, and the pussy never hurts. It's always a challenge and I love to travel.

Isaac: What makes performing live in front of an audience rewarding for you as a Stand-up Comedian?

Adam: The instant feedback is amazing. Laughter is like heroin--as long as I do standup at night I go to bed happy.

Isaac: One of the things I hate myself is hecklers. How do you handle hecklers when you are performing live during one of your shows?

Adam: It depends on where the heckler is coming from. A lot of times people are coming from a place of love so slamming them is the wrong move, you just have to time them and let them know that you have it covered. If the audience is with you, then you can say almost anything to get the heckler to quiet down. If not you might have to do a "Rope-a dope" strategy and let him win the first round and after you have gotten the audience on your side, slam the heckler hard at the end when he is not expecting it.

Isaac: You were a top finalist for Season 8 of NBC's "Last Comic Standing". How has that exposure on the show helped you professionally?

Adam: It has been amazing. I am booked from now till 2010 and I get recognized constantly.

Isaac: You have a great official website. How has having your own website helped you to connect with your fans?

Adam: It's always great when your fans have direct access to videos and your schedule. I need to blog more.

Isaac: One of your gigs that you have is being one of the celebrities host for TRU TV the Smoking Gun series. What has been one of the most shocking clips that you have seen and asked yourself, "WTF?"

Adam: Any time some guy steals a garbage truck and tries to take it on high speed chase I am puzzled.

Isaac: What's next for Adam Hunter?

Adam: I have a show on comedy.com that I host and produced called Kamikaze Comedy. I am touring the country and hope to one day host a late night talk show.

Isaac: Time to give some shouts outs....

Adam: My dad, brother, sister, Jay Davis, Tarun Shetty and Topenga from Boy Meets World.

Isaac: Final words from Adam Hunter...

Adam: Live your dream.
