Music Now Artist/Band Spotlight Weekly Series

Article 66

Sonicbids

Our next interview comes from the Indie Rock band Article 66 who is creating amazing music that captures the true nature of Rock music. What makes Article 66 fun to listen to is their melodic vibe that comes with a ton of guitar driven rock tunes. Want to learn more about this band?...then read this super chic feature for more information. Enjoy!

Isaac: I just listened to one of your songs titled, "Machines". What was the inspiration for making this song and your new album?

Article 66: Machines was actually on our first album. Tony T. wrote it back in the 90s and it's been a staple of our live show since the beginning. The song is a about a madman who is wondering why he does the things he does, and whether or not "God" is behind any of it. Our new album, which will be out later this year, touches on similar themes. The album will be titled "The Fire."

Isaac: Who were your influences?

Article 66: In no particular order.....Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, The Who, Tool, 311, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Rush, The Police, Peter Gabriel, ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Roy Buchanan, and early U2.

Isaac: What do you consider to have been the highlight(s) and lowpoint(s) of your career to date?

Article 66: Highlight was probably the completion of our first album in 2008 which was self-titled (Article 66). It took us a long time to complete that album, and we had to get through a few low points to do it, such as losing a couple of band members. So completing the album and celebrating the release was a great feeling.

Isaac: Brief history about your background plus the style of music you play.

Article 66: We've been together since 2002. We've gone through a few lineup changes and style changes. Our sound is a cross between early U2 and Tool. Melodic, sometimes heavy, guitar driven rock.

Isaac: How easy is it to gets gigs for you as an artist? What is the live music scene like in your area?

Article 66: Gigs are pretty easy to get. There are plenty of places to play and if you're good, there will always be places for you to play.

Isaac: What do you think of the state of Indie music at the moment? Do you listen to radio much at all? Has the Internet helped music grow or hindered it in your opinion?

Article 66: We don't listen to radio much these days. The Internet has helped a lot of talented musicians get the exposure they deserve, so it has certainly helped.

Isaac: If you could create a fantasy band - what would be the line-up and why?

Article 66: Clapton: guitar/vocals; Sting: bass/vocals; John Bohnam: Drums; Greg Allman: organ/vocals.

Isaac: What CD's do you currently have available and where can they be purchased from?

Article 66: Our self-titled album, Article 66, is available at iTunes, Amazon, Best Buy, and at Cdbaby.com.

Isaac: Where can fans access your music, videos, blogs, and anything else about you online?

Article 66: They can go to our website, article66.com; they can also visit us on Facebook and MySpace. We have some videos on YouTube as well, just look up Article 66.

Isaac: Message to your fans?

Article 66: Please purchase a copy of our CD if you haven't already, please visit our site and stay up to day with what we are doing, and always come out and support us when we put on a show! Thank you!

Aaron Wolfe: Spread the word! We musicians need all the help we can get!!
