Astronauts of Antiquity
Astronauts of Antiquity
The web definition of Acid Jazz [1] states that this genre of music, (also known as groove jazz in USA), is a relatively new musical genre that skillfully mixes elements of jazz, funk and hip-hop, particularly looped beats. This next group certainly fits nicely in this genre as Astronauts of Antiquity offers to the music industry something new and refreshing that will make music lovers ignite in pleasure. India and B. Rhyan are the perfectly matched as they make beautiful music together. One of the best parts to Astronauts of Antiquity is the luscious intoxicating vocal of the female lead singer, India, who certainly adds the neo-soul element to the group.
Not since the days of one of my all time favorite groups, The Brand New Heavies with N'Dea Davenport, have I been mesmerized by the soulfulness sounds of Astronauts of Antiquity. The band's sophomore release, Rocket Science, is a masterpiece of several genres that easily shows the musical skills and geniuses of the band. If you are ready for a musical journey that will take you to many places, then Rocket Science is the album for you.
I give Rocket Science a solid A+++ -- well deserved.
