B-Amazing
| ||
Currently residing in Baltimore, Maryland B-Amazing has his own unique blend when it comes to Hip-Hop. Arriving in America in 1986 from Tehran, B-Amazing is capturing the hearts of his fans in the states. In 2006, B-Amazing signed a major deal with the Indie label Sluggerz Entertainment and has been making magic every since. With his first album slated to drop soon entitled Gettin Spins, B-Amazing is definitely a name to remember. Check out a recent interview B-Amazing took the time to complete for Junior’s Cave.
Isaac: Briefly describe how you entered into the music industry.
B-Amazing: I first started actually rapping around 2000. I met this guy that was a rapper and he basically taught me how to rap to a beat. I was instantly hooked and have been rapping ever since.
Isaac: One of the reasons why I was drawn to you is because of your style. Briefly elaborate on your background
B-Amazing: Well I am Persian. I was born in Iran and moved to the states when I was 5 in 1986. From Chicago, I moved to Baltimore when I was 11 and have been here ever since. I think my music reflects that. We came to America dead broke and struggled like a lot of people. My rap also reflects of the struggles. And since I am bilingual, I can go back and forth from American to Farsi when I’m rapping.
Isaac: What is the most rewarding aspect to making music currently for you?
B-Amazing: For one, I think just venting out through my songs is very good therapy. Second, just hearing people’s reaction to a song when they first hear it is good too. That shock value they have because they are not expecting that from me.
Isaac: What has discouraged you the most about making music?
B-Amazing: Sometime you feel like you are doing this for nothing. A lot of people don't understand how much effort it takes to make a good song. At the end of the day, you want people to feel your music the same you did when you made the song but sometimes it doesn't work out like that and it is frustrating.
Isaac: What does being a Hip-Hop entertainer mean to you?
B-Amazing: It means that I have a lot to live up to. Hip hop to me has changed the culture so much from the time it was first introduced. Pioneers have set a bar that lot of people in the game today disregard. I fell like I recognize where the bar is set and for that reason I refuse to put just any old song together.
Isaac: Do you have a personal philosophy about music? If so, what is it?
B-Amazing: To me, I hear a beat, get a feel for what type of song I’m going to do, and I go from there. As far as my content, it all depends on how I feel that day or what kind of mood I’m in.
Isaac: When you are performing live in front of an audience, what are the thoughts that are running through you head?
B-Amazing: Before I go on stage, I get these butterflies in my stomach. I have been on stage soo many times, and I still get those butterflies! Also, I’m thinking don’t mess up those lyrics!! But, as soon as I get on stage, all that disappears and I just go with it.
Isaac: Why is being an independent musician important to you?
B-Amazing: Because I actually have an input to what is going on. It feels more like a family. Big labels only want you if you are producing big cash for them. If you don't, they drop you like a bad habit. Everyone in the label as far as an independent goes has the same goals. We all came with nothing and started from scratch; so to succeed together makes it that much more rewarding.
Isaac: Do you think the Internet has altered the path of music as an industry? If so, how?
B-Amazing: Tremendously! It has allowed independent artist to have an outlet for their music without having to go through the big labels.
Isaac: Any advice for other musicians out there when it comes to using the Internet as a medium for getting their music heard to the masses?
B-Amazing: Yes, like with anything else you have to grind hard! Just because you have your music on the Internet doesn't mean that everyone is listening. Just like with everything else, you have to draw people to your music through networking.
Isaac: What kind of recording software do you use?
B-Amazing: We record on Pro Tools.
Isaac: I know that everybody has his or her idea of a dream artist, someone who for whatever reasons that person would just love to listen to and admire. As an entertainer yourself, if you could play with one of your "dream" musicians, anyone at all, who would it be and why?
B-Amazing: Living, Jay-Z. I am a big fan of his and I think he a genius musically and business wise. Dead, I would say either-- Pac, Biggie, or Bob Marley; the first two because they are the greatest ever and Bob Marley because I love his music.
Isaac: What are you hoping to gain from your experience of being a musician and making music?
B-Amazing: Honestly, just getting my voice heard. There are people out there going through the same stuff I went through and hopefully my music will be a medicine for them. Hopefully, one of my songs will help someone to there get through their day like a lot of artists have done for me in the past. At the end of the day, the best feeling is when someone comes up to you and says “your song really helped me get through this and that so thank you”. That’s a great feeling!
Isaac: What are you hopes for your music in the year 2008/2009?
B-Amazing: Hopefully by this time next year B-Amazing and Sluggerz Ent. LLC. will be a household name.
