One of the best parts to this next artist’s music is his amazing voice that makes one feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Who is this artist? He is the super talented Singer/Songwriter Brian Pounds who recently completed an online conversation with our Webzine about his music, his musical influences, and what has been some of his highest and lowest points in his career so far. Here is what formulated. Enjoy!
Isaac: I just listened to several songs off your new EP/CD. What was the inspiration for making your new album?
Brian Pounds: The CD is based around everyday life experiences. It's made up of songs that I wrote as early as 8th grade to songs that were finished as we were finishing the album.
Isaac: Who were your influences?
Brian Pounds: Ryan Adams, Amos Lee, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Adam Duritz, Friends, Family.
Isaac: What do you consider to have been the highlight(s) and lowpoint(s) of your career to date?
Brian Pounds: There have been various low points to my career, shows where no one was coming, songs that no one was listening to, but the most fun I've ever had as a musician was playing with a band named Boulevard in Oklahoma. We would play these packed out shows and everyone would always have a killer time. It was my first taste of success a musician.
Isaac: Brief history about your background plus the style of music you play.
Brian Pounds: I grew up in Texas and got really interested in playing music after listening to Dave Matthews Band and a few classic rock artists. My first guitar was my brother’s guitar that he didn't want anymore and I was just bored. I practiced everyday and the guitar started to make sense.
Isaac: How easy is it to gets gigs for you as an artist? What is the live music scene like in your area?
Brian Pounds: I live in Austin, which is obviously a huge music town. When I first arrived here, it was kind of hard getting gigs that were worthwhile but I went out and met people and made friends and now the gigs come pretty easily in the Austin area. I'm able to keep an up to date EPK which makes it easier to book out of town gigs.

Isaac: What do you think of the state of Indie music at the moment? Do you listen to radio much at all? Has the Internet helped music grow or hindered it in your opinion?
Brian Pounds: I always hear that the labels are failing, and this is the revolution for indie artists. I have to say that I can't completely agree. The record labels are huge for a reason and they will always be around but it is a very exciting time for any indie artist because there's no more excuses for you to make. With CD Baby, MySpace, iTunes, etc...you can make yourself an entire career without having to leave your house.
Isaac: If you could create a fantasy band - what would be the line-up and why?
Brian Pounds: That's hard to say because I have the pleasure of playing with such great musicians already. Carter Beauford - Drums. John Mayer - Guitar. Stefan Lessard - Bass. Billy Preston - B3.
Isaac: What CD's do you currently have available and where can they be purchased from?
Brian Pounds: I have "After You're Gone" available on iTunes and the single, "Up For Air" available for free download on www.purevolume.com/brianpounds
Isaac: Where can fans access your music, videos, blogs, and anything else about you online?
