CJfilaz

CJfilaz is the perfect representation of what it means to be a Hip-Hop entertainer/performer. His diversity and insane skills are a plus. His ability as a lyrist makes him the perfect choice for Hip-Hop lovers. Born Charles Junior Nyanyira (March, 3, 1988, in Harare, Zimbabwe) he has taken the stage name of CJfilaz to better fit his style. With a new album, Radical, recently introduced (April 1998), CJfilaz is gaining fans both commercially and underground.

Check out this recent interview with the magazine that CJfilaz completed.

Isaac: Briefly describe how you entered into the music industry.

CJfilaz: After all the years I had spent playing around recording and making music, I decided to take it more seriously and released my 1st album last year in April 2007.

Isaac: What is the most rewarding aspect to making music currently for you?

CJfilaz: The most rewarding aspect for me is when fans or random people come up to me and tell me they like my music. That kinda gives me the energy to keep going. I also love to perform live whenever I get the chance.

Isaac: What has discouraged you the most about making music?

CJfilaz: I hate it when people start comparing me to other artist.

Isaac: Do you have a personal philosophy about music? If so, what is it?

CJfilaz: Keep it interesting.

Isaac: When you are performing live in front of an audience, what are the thoughts that are running through you head?

CJfilaz: Haha, don’t forget your next lyrics.

Isaac: Why is being an independent musician important to you?

CJfilaz: It’s the freedom. I can make what I want, when I want and how I want. It gives you more control on what goes on with your music.

Isaac: Do you think the Internet has altered the path of music as an industry? If so, how?

CJfilaz: I think it has and still has a long way to go. It gives upcoming artist a chance to present what they got and it’s accessible to people all over the world because almost everyone has Internet.

Isaac: Any advice for other musicians out there when it comes to using the Internet as a medium for getting their music heard to the masses?

CJfilaz: I would say it’s a great starting place.

Isaac: What kind of recording software do you use?

CJfilaz: Garageband, Fruityloops, cool edit pro, Protools and Reason.

Isaac: I know that everybody has his or her idea of a dream artist, someone who for whatever reasons that person would just love to listen to and admire. As an entertainer yourself, if you could play with one of your "dream" musicians, anyone at all, who would it be and why?

CJfilaz: I would say Pharrel Williams because I can relate and he's so diverse in his music style.

Isaac: What are you hoping to gain from your experience of being a musician and making music?

CJfilaz: Hmm, I ain’t quite sure but right now I would like to be recognized.

Isaac: What are you hopes for your music in the year 2008?

CJfilaz: To push further and reach the level of success that I would be comfortable with; make a lot more music.

Isaac: This is our Shout Out time. Please give props to anyone and everyone that matters the most to you.

CJfilaz: My Mamma, Lee, Lolo and my entire family. Don Ikon, Salex-G, Arab Pimp, VenzFinest, Maestro, Can Cani, Marijke, Dexter, everyone that was ever involved with my music at any point; my beautiful baby Star and all the fans.

Isaac: This is Shameless Plug time: Give us some updates on new releases and other projects in the works.

CJfilaz: Will Do. Check out my MySpace account: http://www.myspace.com/cjfilaz for more information.

Isaac: Final Thoughts:

CJfilaz: Thank you for this opportunity.
