C Darensbourg & B Jupiter

Sonicbids

We are excited to bring you our newest music interview with Hip Hop Instrumentalist Cyril Darensbourg, a native of New Orleans, LA, who began his music career in elementary school playing the violin. Cyril makes up one of the two man duo; C Darensbourg & B Jupiter. Cyril later switched to Alto & Tenor Saxophone. During his 15 years as a musician, Cyril studied a range of musical genres including Military Marches, to Classical, Pop, and Rhythm/Blues.

Cyril also performed in his school's jazz ensemble and marching band. He also performed at his school as a soloist. Today, Cyril is talking about his love for music, his background and his experience with the folks at Junior's Cave Online Magazine. Enjoy!

Isaac: Cyril, please take a moment to elaborate on who you are and your upbringing.

Cyril: I'm a modest person with a strong desire to be successful and enjoy life. I'm from New Orleans, LA; I have great parents. They are the main reason for my success. They supported me with my music or any crazy idea I had growing up.

Isaac: Was there any one musician that spoke to your heart so profoundly, you were inspired to do your own thing?

Cyril: Alvin Baptiste, Sr.

Isaac: Which singer/group would you say you would most like to do a duet with?

Cyril: I'm not a singer but I would love to produce an album with Michael Jackson.

Isaac: What singer/songwriter do you most connect with?

Cyril: N/A

Isaac: Out of your entire song collection that you've written thus far, which song(s) would you say is/are the most personal/meaningful to you?

Cyril: Come and Get Ya off the Do you see Red - this song was written when I was going through some challenging times so I want a song to reflect my inner strength.

Isaac: Which singers/groups do you enjoy/like from some of today's music genres?

Cyril: Alicia Keys, Mary J, and Moby.

Isaac: What charities are you involved with or support and why should people get involved?

Cyril: Tippatina's Foundation - helping out the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Isaac: Have you (or would you ever consider) writing a song about any of today's particular world issues/problems? If so, what world issue would speak to you the most to write about?

Cyril: Yes, the justice system - money making machine.

Isaac: What is the main reason why should people listen to your music?

Cyril: To experience something different.

Isaac: What has been your main inspiration to toss out such classical music?

Cyril: My father.

Isaac: How far into the creation of a song do you share any of it with anyone? Who would you play it for? Would it be a chorus, a verse and chorus, or a complete song?

Cyril: Normally my wife and kids are the first person to hear my songs.

Isaac: How much do you let others "mess around with" one of your new songs?

Cyril: Never.

Isaac: Do you have to be a tortured soul to be a singer-songwriter?

Cyril: No.

Isaac: Are your songs strictly autobiographical or are they embroidered autobiography?

Cyril: Both.

Isaac: How long does it take you to process your emotions and turn them into songs?

Cyril: To Produce a Track 1 Hour to 1 Month.

Isaac: The best piece of advice you actually followed?

Cyril: Remain Me.

Isaac: Give Shutouts to your family and friends.

Cyril: To my sister Katrina.

Isaac: Last but certainly not least, what are you working on, now?

Cyril: I just finished our 5th CD and currently working on my second solo CD to be released spring 2009.
