D. Cody
D. Cody
D. Cody has one of the most soulful voices that I have heard in the music industry. He has easily captured the essence of what it means to be an R&B entertainer with his infusion of Urban, Gospel and Jazz into his music. In a recent interview, I spoke with D. Cody who enlightened our Webzine on who exactly is D. Cody. Enjoy!
Isaac: Hi D. Cody. Welcome to your interview with Junior's Cave. Now that 2008 has officially ended, what are your reflections of the year 2008 for as a performer?
D. Cody: Thanks for having me. 2008 was a great year for me. The preparations for shows were really fun. I enjoyed the people showing me much love in 2008.
Isaac: What has drawn you to making R&B and Soulful music into a melodious tune?
D.Cody: As a kid, I listened to a lot of soul music. From Bobby Womack to Curtis Mayfield, I listened to them all, and every time I listened to them I felt their message. I wanted to create the same vibe in my music so I made up my mind to make soul music but with an R&B flow.
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
D.Cody: My biggest influence was the gospel group Commissioned. They're smooth style and soaring melodic vocals really captivated me. After Commissioned, there were 112, Jodeci, Bobby Womack, Dave Hollister, and the list goes on and on.
Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel D. Cody will bring to the music industry?
D.Cody: I think I will bring back that feel good music that I believe we're missing today in music. Remember when you would put in a CD and not have to change to the next track because every track made u feel good? That's what I'm going to bring back.
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?
D.Cody: Whoa! There are so many. I would work with anyone in the industry today. If I had to choose an artist, it would be Sade. She sings with such grace and her voice is like none other.
Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?
D.Cody: Well my music is a mixture of Soul and modern R&B. Smooth vocals with awesome catchy hooks. I have music that will make you dance, cry, or just feel good about being in love.
Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from your previous releases?
D.Cody: A lot of the feedback I get is very positive. Most of my fans love my vocal arrangements in my music. My harmonies usually get the ladies the most!
Isaac: What can fans expect from your latest CD, Us Against The World, you are working on currently? What is the inspiration behind the CD?
D.Cody: Us Against The World is a very unique project. It's geared towards relationships and the everyday struggles in them. I'm also touching moments in having fun and enjoying the moment with someone you want to be with.
Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?
D.Cody: If you want to know more about D.Cody, feel free to hit me up on
D.Cody: Expect my solo release "Us Against The World" and check my MySpace page for updates on shows and new releases.
Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…

My in-house production team "The Proffesionals", Al Fraser, Rhythm, DJ Shu, K.E.L.L.S. (Killin Every Lame Lyric Spoken), Too Slim, Ruby, and finally to my family, friends, and my fans.
