Our Webzine is proud to introduce to our online readers the talented Ève Salvail musically known as DJ Evalicious. The French-Canadian Supermodel and Actress turned Superstar DJ is living the life as the mixing mistress supreme of New York City. Salvail made an important decision to shave her head bald and has a Chinese dragon tattooed on her scalp. This creative and hot new look caught the eye of Jean Paul Gaultier. She instantly became a top model in the European fashion capitals.

Salvail also made appearances in such films as The Fifth Element and Zoolander. Salvail has appeared on the covers of several fashion and music magazines including ELLE, Marie Claire and Wired. In this spotlight, our Webzine asked the DJ about her mixing skills and what does she love about being a DJ. Here is what transpired.

Isaac: I just listened to several songs off your new EP/CD. What was the inspiration for making your new album?

DJ Evalicious: I love mixing; it’s like when I made mixtapes in high school for my friends … except that the last song doesn’t get cut out at the end of each side of the cassette!! Those were the days!!!

Isaac: Who were your influences?

DJ Evalicious: I looked up to DJ AM and always said to myself that one day I’d be as good as him! I used to only play Hip Hop and Rock. I now play more house music and am influenced by Astrid Suryantos and DJ Nicolas Matar.

Isaac: Sweet!!

Isaac: What do you consider to have been the highlight(s) and lowpoint(s) of your career to date?

DJ Evalicious: Hong Kong 2009, in the middle of my set the fire department came and shut off the power for a good 20 minutes. After the obvious silence (the low point), the crowd began to chant my name (the high point). I felt like MJ!!!

Isaac: Brief history about your background plus the style of music you play.

DJ Evalicious: I grew up listening to Punk music then evolved through a maze of Rock, Hip Hop and eventually House. You can hear all those influences in the music that I play.

Isaac: How easy is it to gets gigs for you as a DJ? What is the live music scene like in New York City?

DJ Evalicious: I have the support of an amazing team.

For the past 18 years I’ve been a witness to New York’s transformation in losing its edge. The crowd has changed, the energy has changed.

Isaac: What do you think of the state of Indie music at the moment? Do you listen to radio much at all? Has the Internet helped music grow or hindered it in your opinion?

DJ Evalicious: It’s great that all artists can have equal opportunities to be discovered in cyber land. I just wish more people would spend the time looking for the “needle in the haystack” rather than following trends.

Isaac: If you could create a fantasy band - what would be the line-up and why?

DJ Evalicious: My band would be my friends and I … We always jam in my friend’s studio and I’m seriously considering taking those sessions to a real stage!

Isaac: What CD's do you currently have available and where can they be purchased from?

DJ Evalicious: You can find my mixes here:
