Eber Calderon of EB11
Eber Calderon of EB11
If you think Rock music is dead, then you have not heard the energetic sounds of EB11. They are rocking hard and proving to the music industry that Rock music is alive and kicking ass. In this fun and creative interview with Front man Eber, (Vocals and Guitar); he shares his passion for what he loves to do; making music. Enjoy this spotlight!
Isaac: Hi, Welcome to your interview with Junior's Cave. Now that 2008 has officially ended, what are your reflections of the year 2008 for you as a group?
Eber/EB11: Thanks, Well I think it was a great year with a lot of up and downs, changing band members and what not, but it ended up good, I/we learned a lot of things that are definitely going to help us in the future...
Isaac: What has drawn you to wanting to make music?
Eber: To be Honest with you, I don't know, there isn't an specific reason, I guess that one of the things that first got me into music was when I was like 5 years old and my dad got a kiss concert in VHS, the minute I saw those guys playing live I said "WOW, That's what I want to do when I grow up", a Few years later I started playing guitar and ever since it's been my passion.
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
Eber: Well Kiss, because of their image hehehehe, I have to say that: that really impressed me the first time I saw them, you know all the make up and stuff, another of my favorites bands is definitely Metallica I liked/like their music it was full of attitude and straight up.
Nirvana, even though I was really into Dream Theater when I started listening to them, I still loved the fact that they did something completely different compare to what was going on at the time, but not only that but the fact that it was simple and it still sounded great.
Then I have to say Pink Floyd that is an amazing band, for the instrumentation, the lyrics, the sound, the live shows, I love everything about Pink Floyd.
Then of course of the new generation of bands I have to say Linkin Park and Three Days Grace, because their sound is fresh and modern but still heavy and somehow catchy and hooky, so I really love those 2 bands, and of course my current favorite band Incubus, I just love their musicality.
Isaac: I am a huge fan of Incubus myself. :-)
Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?
Eber: Something good, hehehe!! Honestly, I think that what I'm doing at the moment are just great songs, and to me that is very important, you know? It does not have to be something completely new and different to be good, so I think that's what EB11 brings to the music industry so far, good music, music you can enjoy, sing along to, head bang to, puts you in different moods etc…
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?
Eber: I'd love to work with Don Gilmore the producer of Linkin Park, because I think the Hybrid Theory and Meteora albums sound awesome!
And I'd love to work with guy like him who can help me expand my sound to the max.
Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?
Eber: Energetic radio friendly rock music in most of the cases.
Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from your previous releases?
Eber: I have only released one EP so far, and I've gotten great reviews from the media. And people seem to like it a lot as well. The song that gives the title to the EP "She" has been released by two different record companies in two compilation Cds Featuring the "hottest indie bands" so I think it has been a good response from the people, the media and the music industry in general. Not bad at all.
Plus, we sell a good amount of CDs at the shows so that's a good sign.
Isaac: What can fans expect from your latest CD, you are working on currently? What is the inspiration behind the CD?
Eber: Everything inspires me, basically everyday life.
I guess I have to say that I write about situations that make me feel uncomfortable most of the time; it's kind of a way to put it out. But it seems like a lot of people feel the same way about those things as I do. So they can relate and that's cool I like that.
As for the new album I can say that: it is a little bit heavier than the EP, better production and some great tunes so far, really exited about it.
Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?
Eber: EB11's website www.eb11music.com, My Space at www.myspace.com/eb11music, Facebook, etc... As for buying music: the EP is available through I Tunes, Napster, Rhapsody Music etc…
Isaac: What can fans expect from you in 2009?
Eber: Hopefully the new album and TOUR!!!
We are working on some dates around Europe but nothing has been settled yet.
Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans.
Eber: Hi Mom and Dad! I'm going to be famous soon! Look! I'm being interviewed hahahhah!
No really, Thanks to the people that have supported me and EB11 through the years specially my fiancée Madeleine she is great and helps me a lot. My two brothers
