Isaac: What was the best part of 2008 for you musically?
Michael: Hitting the road with our friends in Late Run.
Aron: Going on tour across the south east and mid west was my favorite part of 2008. I love traveling and playing in new places.
Isaac: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment for 2008?
Michael: Finally getting this record done!
Aron: Completing our album For Love and Brother. It was very satisfying to finish it. We spent longer than normal for us to work on it and fine tune it. Finishing it was an immense accomplishment.
Isaac: Describe the music scene in area.
Michael: It's there if you look for it. Just because Connecticut is small doesn't mean we don't have some great scenes.
Aron: In Connecticut, there is a small underground scene for our type of music. It is unfortunate though, that not many people in the area will go out just to see a show. No one seems to give new bands a chance. If they haven't heard them on the radio or aren't some big national band, many people dismiss them and assume that the band is no good.
Isaac: What has been the best venue to perform at and why?
Michael: Really any hall, i.e. VFW, American Legion, etc.
Aron: Generally speaking I enjoy all ages clubs because the people who go to those shows just want to have fun and see a show. Specifically, I had a real fun time at Champs bar and grill in Chicago. It was a great show, lots of energy from the crowd, and a real tight set.
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
Michael: Growing up it was all about Metallica. Grow your hair like them. Cover their songs. Write songs that are obvious Metallica rip offs. I just liked the heaviness of their music. Of course, the older you get, the more influences you get.
Aron: Growing up the Beatles was the first band that made me realize music was something that wasn't just background music. That you could tell stories and get a message across through it. Also, Metallica for their do it yourself attitude about fast heavy music. Also, they were the common bond that brought Mike and I together in Flu.
Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?
Michael: I don't know what I "will" bring to the music industry, but what I "try" to bring to the table is just some honest songs.
Aron: Fun irreverence! I hope more that the music industry does not take away that simple enjoyment and fun feeling I don't get anywhere else from playing music. So hopefully, I can bring that with me and still keep it.
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?
Michael: Right now it would be Thrice. They seem to do what they want musically and not care about what the listener is going to think. I like that attitude and would like to be around people who are as humungo as they are, who take that same attitude to sell out venues.
Aron: Mitch Hedberg. He's dead but I think he was one of the funniest people I ever heard and I would have been honored to open or have him open for us.
Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?
Micheal: A mix of metal and punk. The music is typically fast, heavy, but with mostly melody.
Aron: Heavy fast rock. It has metal influence and punk influence, but blended. More like old thrash metal from the 80's.
Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from fans about your music?
Michael: Well, from fans of the band, it's been positive, but that's why they are fans. I've heard plenty of negative things too just from people online. It's like most things-you either like it, tolerate it, or dislike it.
Aron: Many people who have seen the show really enjoy it. They get into the energy of the show and usually have a good time. Many people have told me even though they don't listen to heavy music they really like our band.
Isaac: What can fans expect from you in the next five years?
Michael: Loads of touring miles kicked up out on the concrete sea.
Aron: More albums and more shows. Some fun merchandise too. Maybe Flu underwear.
Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…
Michael: George Engel and Sling Slang Records, Scott Genereau at Aliehn Productions, Dino Federici at 10 Foot Reach Records, Surviving Kenny, The And Band, Mom and Dad.
Aron: Thanks to George Engel and Sling Slang Records who have done so much for us. Hi to my parent who got me into music. Hi to my sisters for being my sisters.
Isaac: Final words…
Michael: Thank you Isaac for taking the time to do this interview. We really do appreciate it.
