IDASH is the evolution of where music is going.

This next group is breathing new air into the Hip-Hop industry with their electrifying presence. Comprised of three members the group is spreading their message to their fans with a new flavor to the Hip-Hop Game. Check out this recent Q & A that I did with the band.

IDASH members:
Alonzo “Zo” Morgan
Tim “Hash” Bell
Ladale “Reag” Robinson.

Q. What is your name? When and where were you born?

A. What Up Doe? This Zohezie From Idash. I am 26 and from the West Side of Detroit.

Q. How did you learn to play (rap) this kind of music?

A. I Learned to rap after listening to hip hop and developed a love for it; I never stopped rapping since.

Q. When did you start to learn? (How old were you?)

A. I think I was like 12 (laughs). I saw I was better than a lot of other cats I was hearing. That is when I and my couzin started making tapes with three songs on them. We hustled them off in school. I remember my momma saying, “how are you making that money?”. I laughed and told her rapping. I didn’t realize that’s what I would be doing for a living (laughs).

Q. Where did you live at the time?

A. That’s when we lived on Seward in the NorthEnd of Detroit. I used a boom box and a tape recorder back then. I would make anywhere from 100 to 150 a week off 5 dollar tapes (laughs).

Q. How long have you been actively playing this kind of music?

A. Professionally like 7yrs...

Q. What is it about this kind of music that makes it different from other types?

A. The energy; I mean its raw emotion to a certain degree. As an artist, I try to convey my purest thoughts in a way that’s both entertaining and thought provoking. It makes more of a connection with people, and as an artist, I need that love (laughs).

Q. Are there different styles of playing your type of music?

A. The possibilities are endless. Hip-Hop will never stay the same; we will continue to blossom. The key is to be a trend setter not a follower. But, you have to know when to follow, feel me?

Q. When and where do you usually play music?

A. I perform where the business is good honestly. As long as the business is good, then I am good.

Q. Do you ever earn money by playing music?

A. There comes a time in life where as an artist you make a transition from hobbyist to professional. So YES, I get paid for shows. By the way, hit me up if want to book me (248)224-3164; git at me (laughs).

Q. Do you play alone or with others?

A. IDASH has three core members, hash and reag, but I am a solo artist.

Q. Are there others in this locale that plays the same kind of music? What are their names and types of musical instruments they play?

A. No Response Given

Q. Have you passed your tradition on to others, who and when? Why is this important to you?

A. No protégé' yet.

Q. What is your favorite song or tune to play?

A. I like the energy in THUMPER CHROME, but I love the LET IT BUMP.

Q. What makes a performance/song good? How do you judge a performance/song?

A. A good song is one that the audience easily identifies with. There are certain elements; I can’t really give up my secrets (laughs). A good chef never tells his recipe. But, I can tell you that you have to understand song structure and melody. A good performance takes preparation, creativity, and most of all energy. As an artist, you have to sale the performance; meaning put your all into it and it has to be natural. The crowd can sense when you just go out there and make up shit, feel me?

Q. Do you have anything else you would like to add?

A. Yeah--LISTEN!!!!! WWW.MYSPACE.COM/LISTEN313
