New Music Review June 2009 Edition
Jason Ricci & New Blood
Jason Ricci & New Blood
When I first placed this CD into my laptop, I was eagerly intrigued by the name of the band "JASON RICCI & NEW BLOOD". After listening to this CD, I can most certainly say that there is some new blood in town (no pun intended). It is hard to describe the sound of this band especially in an age where the music industry loves to place labels on music. Maybe that is the whole appeal to the band's music is that it is not easily categorized. If I had to sum up a certain sound, it is a combination of various sounds nicely fused together into a melodic tune.
One minute when listening to this CD you are being treated to good old southern rock theme while other times you are tapping your feet to some get down funk music. Even at other times you are listening to Jazz, Folk, and Punk. But, this is what instantly draws you into wanting to hear more from JASON RICCI & NEW BLOOD. The diversity of their music makes for a solid performer. The no rules definitely apply to the band's newest released effort titled Done With The Devil. If you are a fan of music of different genres, then Done With The Devil is the icing on the cake. You will not get bored with any of the selections from this wonderful CD as I found myself listening to the CD all day long for several days.
All in all, this CD is a perfect blend of musical styles that will please any music lover.
I give Done With The Devil a perfect A+
Go out and by this CD; it is worth its weight and gold.
