Isaac: How do you sum up 2008 for Jeannine Hebb?
Jeannine: Hectic and fun!
Isaac: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment for 2008?
Jeannine: Our Debut EP!
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
Jeannine: I grew up listening to a lot of Fiona Apple, Paul McCartney, Beck, Nick Drake, Stevie Wonder...more recently, I've been into Regina Spektor, Devendra Banhart, M. Ward, Tom Waits, Daniel Johnston and Gillian Welch. I love artists who are totally unique and individual in their style, but still write in a way that's appealing to large audiences.
Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?
Jeannine: I hope I'll bring some intelligently-written pop music of a higher standard than normal radio fluff.
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?
Jeannine: Wow, that's a tough one. There are SO many people I'd be honored to work with in the industry...I'm not sure I could choose just one. Also, does this question include dead people? A list (in no particular order) would be: Jon Brion, George and Ira Gershwin, Rachmaninoff, David Rawlings, Cab Calloway, Judy Garland, Johnny Cash, any or all of the influences listed in question #3, Johnny Mercer, Aretha Franklin, Oscar Peterson, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Aimee Mann, John Lennon, the list goes on....
Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?
Jeannine: Quirky. Pop, rock, R&B, and Soul. Moody. Smart. Something ears like.
Isaac: What is your definition for Pop Music?
Jeannine: Commercial music aimed at the general public.
Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from your previous releases?
Jeannine: We've received some great feedback! One of the songs on the EP, "Just Enough for Me", was chosen by Coby Electronics to be released nationally on their latest line of video mp3 players! Hooray!
Isaac: What can fans expect from your latest CD, Too Late to Change Me (EP, 2008)? What is the inspiration behind the CD?
Jeannine: Our latest (and debut) CD is a 6-song affair, full of catchy choruses and delicious arrangements. Expect to like it very much, and sing along with it in the car, shower, train, bedroom....
The CD was inspired by any life situation, (wonderful or horrible), deemed worthy to write a song about.
Isaac: What can fans expect from Jeannine Hebb in 2009?
Jeannine: More music. Different music. Lots of shows...Tonight show?
Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans?
Jeannine: Thanks to everyone for all the support. You make our songs, shows, recordings, fears and frustrations all worthwhile. You're delightful, and we're glad to have you.
