"Rhythm Unconscious" gets a solid A+
Isaac: What has been the best part of 2009 for you musically so far?
KWFBP: Well musically, we have become more and more cohesive as a band....branching out into even newer territories has never been this much fun. We are currently recording our 2nd album and we are constantly surprising ourselves.
Isaac: What do you feel has been the biggest accomplishment for 2009 so far?
KWFBP: The biggest accomplishment for us so far in 2009 has probably been signing a licensing deal with HUMAN FACTOR (TV/Film music placement licensing company) as well as receiving significant radio play for numerous tracks from "Rhythm Unconscious" on university/college radio stations across Canada and now in the US! We have so many more exciting new developments that we are not quite at liberty to divulge yet, all we can say is that 2009 is shaping up to be our best year yet.
Isaac: Describe the music scene in your part of the world.
KWFBP: Well, we are all from Vancouver, B.C. Canada, and the scene here continues to be very progressive but progressive underground. Sadly, a lot of popular venues that used to cater to live acts are in the process of shutting down or have shut down, to make way for a more dense urban jungle. Vancouver is notorious for having a very diverse musical background but with limited fan support, so unfortunately, most Vancouver bands have felt the need to leave the city in order to find their following. With the coming of the 2010 Olympics Games, hopefully it will help the underground scene and showcase Vancouver's artist cultural side to the world.
Isaac: What has been the best venue to perform at and why?
KWFBP: We think if you were to ask any Vancouver band they would all agree the "Commodore Ballroom". This venue has consistently had the best sound, the best crowds, the best atmosphere, overall, a kick ass room to play.
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
KWFBP: How much time you got?? hahahaa honestly, between the four of us we have such a diverse musical pallet it's difficult to narrow it down to just a few names. Let's just say we are greatly influenced by anyone who has gone "beyond the usual".
Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?
KWFBP: We feel we are bringing forward thinking and innovation to groove-based music. Enough said.
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?
KWFBP: Ron Howard, because how can you say no to Opie?
Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?
KWFBP: We've thought long and hard about this.....real long, because it ain't an easy thing......but the best description we have come up with is "Bruised Lounge". A fusion of lounge, blues, hip-hop and where ever else our mood takes us.
Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from fans about your music?
KWFBP: From teens, to the middle-aged, from heavy metal heads to catholic priests (it's true) the reactions have been extremely positive. We have noticed that our fans come from ALL over the world. A lot of people have told us that they have become fans of OUR brand of hip-hop, in where they were not fans of the hip-hop genre before. We take that as a huge compliment.
Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?
KWFBP: This is an easy one.....everyone can check us out at our official website: www.kindwordsfrombadpeople.com/ The website is pretty cool, if you go there you will find our links to MySpace, Facebook etc, and all the digital download links (iTunes, Napster, Amazon etc) to get our debut release "Rhythm Unconscious". Check it out won't you?
Isaac: What can fans expect from you in the next five years?
KWFBP: More albums, more live shows, more everything!. .....With any luck we will all get to quit our days jobs and tour the world....that's the plan anyway.
Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…
KWFBP: We have to say thanks to all the radio stations for playing our stuff, and thanks to all our fans who have supported us (you keep us going).....and of course, thanks to all our family and friends...and if you are just hearing of us now, BUY THE ALBUM!!
Isaac: Final words…
KWFBP: Kind Words For The Day: "Nudibranch" look it up......it's not what you think.........it's a series of colorful sea slugs. Thank you.
