Kiko Ellsworth
He won the hearts of millions of viewers playing one of the main protagonists of the poplar Daytime series Port Charles. When the series ended in 2003, Kiko Ellsworth did not let that slow him down. He has remained active in the entertainment business including working on several hot new projects. We recently caught up with Kiko who enlightened our Webzine about all of the new updates with him. We are pleased to showcase this exclusive interview to our online readers with the extremely talented entertainer/actor. Enjoy our fantastic spotlight.
Isaac: Hi Kiko, I wanted to first wish you a Happy New Years. Let's get started with the interview. You are most notable for your portrayal of Jamal Woods in the hit ABC Series, Port Charles. Where you sad to see the show end?
Kiko: I was saddened to see the show end because it was such a family friendly work environment and that I will always miss.
Isaac: I enjoyed the series especially when the series turned to its Supernatural theme. What was your immediate reaction when you learned that the show was going to take this direction?
Kiko: I was a little weary as I was worried if the truth for the stories and characters would still remain in tact. Luckily, the acting of my fellow actors was solid and I feel it always was rooted in truth; Never phony.
Isaac: Name the best storyline you enjoyed while on the show of your character Jamal?
Kiko: When Jamal felt responsible for Valerie losing her life. I got to experience a death in my character's life and I enjoy exploring the depth of any character and seeing just how deep I'm capable of going. Oooo...Scary!
Isaac: Who was your favorite actor/actress to work with on-screen on the series Port Charles and why?
Kiko: Erin Hershey definitely! She was like a little sister to me. We got along wonderfully, inspired one another and played off each other constantly.
Isaac: Did you have any inputs into how your character would play out on the show? If so, how?
Kiko: Yes. sometimes I thought that either myself or the character wasn't being represented well and I stood for what I believed in. They [show creators] were great and always worked with me.
Isaac: If the series were to ever come back, would you reprise your role? Why or Why not?
Kiko: Not at this point. My life and career have moved on to other things that I'm very dedicated to now. I loved being on the show when I was and wouldn't change one thing about being on the show.
Isaac: You also did a quick stunt on General Hospital as a character named Stanley. Would you ever consider doing another Daytime Soap Opera series in the near future? Why or why not?
Kiko: Same answer as above.
Isaac: You made your film debut in All or Nothing (2002). Describe the main theme of this movie and your character that you played?
Kiko: The movie was about a struggling rap artist trying to make it and deal with life and the negative influences of those around him (Me and my character Zane were the antagonist).
Isaac: What did you find difference between this character and your previous one you played on Port Charles?
Kiko: Jamal had a good heart and this guy Zane was a lost soul on the fast track to nowhere; hence his death.
Isaac: Let's talk about your more recent project, The Will to Power (2007) written, produced, directed by, and starring David Rountree. How did this project come about? What type of feedback have you received about this film?
Kiko: I've known David for a while through acting classes and we also did another film together. We ended up meeting up again on yet another set and that's where he presented me with the film The Will to Power for the first time. I ended up doing the film, worked really well together and ended up starting the production company Psycho Rock Productions with him.
Isaac: What is next for Kiko Ellsworth? What are some up and coming projects that you are working on currently?
