New Music Spotlight
August 2009 Edition

Interview with Roy Orbs from LAW

LAW

Sonicbids

When I first heard the music of legendary musicians such as The Doors, Led Zeppelin, and Jimi Hendrix, I instantly was mesmerized by the soulful lyrics, raw and electrifying sounds and pulsating rhythmic guitars that are the trademark of rock music. This next group captures some of the same exciting elements that these legends did in the 1960s with their own music. LAW, which means Lucifer at Work, makes music that is exciting and fun to be a fan of Rock music. In this interview with our Webzine, Roy Orbs speaks candidly about the band, their music, religion, and society. Enjoy!

Interview with Roy Orbs from LAW:

Isaac: What was the best part of 2009 so far for you musically?

LAW: Right now we are writing and recording, 'Jeffrey Dahmer', which will be the first single for our debut full length follow up to the, 'of monkeys and man' EP...

Isaac: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment for 2008?

LAW: Probably playing with Walls of Jericho at the Croc Rock in Allentown, Pa. We actually recorded the 'of monkeys' EP in their former practice space, but what would've been a nice conversation starter was wasted because we didn't get time to talk with them; Great show though.

Isaac: Describe the music scene in area.

LAW: I don't pay attention.

Isaac: What has been the best venue to perform at and why?

LAW: The Stone Pony in Allentown was somewhere we were very excited to play the first time, but I was on Xanax and don't remember it. Probably CBGB's before its demise.

Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?

LAW: I always admired Manson's work, especially growing up, although we sound nothing alike. But, I think one unforeseen failure in his quest to squash religion (namely Christianity) was putting forth the latent idea that one must be a 10 ft. tall clown-monster to be an atheist. Most people aren't ready for that. They need to be lured like squirrels. And in fact, many of the most upstanding and productive members of our history and current society have been atheists ie - Thomas Jefferson and many of the 'founding fathers', Arthur Miller, Isaac Asimov, George Orwell, Audrey Hepburn and Seth MacFarlane to name a few - and none of them as far as we know were evil, clown-monsters.

Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?

LAW: Kids are bashed with such mindless drivel day in, day out. Sadly, there are very few bands out with something useful to say. Hopefully, as young people are drawn to our beats and melodies, they will also explore some of the references in our songs and take that with them as well as a propensity to want to learn, understand and seek intelligence and creativity.

Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?

LAW: Dead or alive? Edith Piaf because we would get all boozed up, create beautiful music, and hopefully die young together.

Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?

LAW: Heavy, melodic, thought/art rock.

Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from fans about your music?

LAW: Well, the most satisfying thing for me is when people tell me that something I wrote made them think.

Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?

LAW: Although we have websites and a number of other profiles, they are all listed on our MySpace so it's probably the most comprehensive entity to find new info about Law.

myspace.com/luciferatwork

Isaac: What can fans expect from you in the next five years?

LAW: Carnegie Hall!

Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…

LAW: You all are the blood that boils beneath our skin. To this end, we implore you; continue to let yourselves be drawn.

Isaac: Final words…

LAW: Law is currently working on a full length follow up to our, 'of monkeys and man' Ep. It will not be an extension of '..monkeys..', but a separate entity unto itself. It will still be Law, but more provocative, deeper, more human and better than anything anyone has ever heard. The single, 'Jeffrey Dahmer' is very close to being released along with a video. Please continue to check myspace.com/luciferatwork for updates on the new single, video and album.
