Laurence E Butterfield

Laurence E Butterfield

Sonicbids

Laurence E Butterfield composes deep and enriching country lyrics/songs that music lovers can relate to especially songs that matters to the heart. Butterfield also knows how to draw up emotions through his music. Recently, Butterfield spoke to our Webzine about his music and his music journey in this special feature that can be only read at Junior's Cave. Enjoy!

Isaac: What has been the best part of 2009 for you musically so far?

Larry: Actually two things. The reaction I have received to my song "Funeral Ballad" and the release of my first album "Laurence E Butterfield's Classic Country Compositions".

Isaac: What do you feel has been the biggest accomplishment for 2009 so far?

Larry: Getting recognition from across the country from Patriot Guard Riders, veterans, active duty personnel and others that I have written a song that people really like and moves them. But let the feedback speak for itself ~

~Also, the knowledge that my album is being played by radio stations all over the world. Maybe not the majors but literally around the world!

Isaac: Describe the music scene in your area.

Larry: Mostly small local bands and singers who play very small venues. A real good sampling including samples of local talent can be found on www.yellowhousemedia.com

Isaac: What has been the best venue to perform at and why?

Larry: N/A as I don't sing the songs myself. I just write.

Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?

Larry: I guess my biggest influences would be the greats I was raised on ... George Jones, Dolly, Loretta and the like. Also, lesser knowns such as Ferlin Husky. The thing that all these artists have in common was the lyrics telling the stories being more important than the music overpowering the song.

Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?

Larry: More of the old style lyric writing that is honest, sincere and real life. Much like the material we get from Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and "King" George.

Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?

Unquestionably, Toby Keith. There is no one who I believe could do a better job on my "Funeral Ballad" than Toby. This can be seen in his other patriotic releases. He sings them with such conviction and patriotism and has the right voice for this song.

Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?

Larry: I guess I would describe it as traditional country with modern influences.

Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from fans about your music?

Larry: Absolutely phenomenal! I direct you to a page I have on my web site dedicated just to the feedback that I received on my song "Funeral Ballad".

http://vermonter13.home.comcast.net/~vermonter13/FuneralBallad.html

This song had maybe 200 hits on it in 2 years prior to my randomly contacting some Patriot Guard Members and other veterans. Within a month's time, they had forwarded this song to others and I had over 5,000 hits on this song.

Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?

Larry: My web site is http://home.comcast.net/~vermonter13/home.html

Isaac: What can fans expect from you in the next five years?

Larry: I have already written 3 or 4 more albums worth of songs. I am waiting to see what happens to my current album before going into hock to do more. I am also looking for local talent to collaborate with and people like Dave Clark at Yellow House Media are trying to assist me in this. Working with local talent would allow me more input into how the songs I write are actually performed and would give a face and live performances of my music which would be much easier to promote and get noticed.

Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…

Larry: Thank you because definitely want to thank my girlfriend and business partner, Cindy Wilkesman. Without her help, there would be no album and she is the one who encourages me not to give up. A special thanks to the few radio stations around the world who are actually playing my song and to Dave Clark for featuring me for 3 weeks on Yellow House Media where 3 of my songs rose to top tens on www.yellowhousemedia.com Last but certainly not least, a very special thanks to all the Patriot Guard Riders and others who have took the time to send me such wonderful feedback.

Isaac: Final words…

Larry: I truly believe that God gave me this talent to write these lyrics for a reason. I also believe that my songs could hold their own with many of today's top hits being played on mainstream radio stations if I could just get the right person to actually listen to a few of them. Hopefully, publications such as yours will be the break I have been waiting for to have some of them heard by the right people. Thank you for the opportunity.
