Get ready Hip-Hop lovers because there is a new Hip-Hop artist who is planning to take fans to the next level with the popular genre. With a style that will definitely set him apart from the average artist, Legend has a style that is going to blow you away when you hear him for the 1st time. In this recent interview with our Webzine, Legend speaks about his vision for his music and the Hip-Hop industry.

Isaac: What was the best part of 2008 for you musically?

Legend: Being able to connect with different producers within the U.S. The Internet has enabled me to find beatmakers from Indiana, St. Louis and North Carolina. All of whom have a unique sound.

Isaac: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment for 2008?

Legend: I was able to finally release my first single after a four-year hiatus from rap music.

Isaac: Describe the music scene in area.

Legend: I'm actually quite new to the music scene in Salt Lake City. It seems like there is a huge rock scene, but there is definitely some urban flavor in various neighborhoods throughout the state.

Isaac: What has been the best venue to perform at and why?

Legend: Currently awaiting my first show, but Harry O's in Park City seems like it'll be a great fit for an up and coming artist like me.

Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?

Legend: I consider myself an underground mc since the 90's, and in the beginning I was a fan of Rakim, Nas and Wu-Tang. They all had their own flavor of hip-hop and made it their own. As the years progressed, I was able to broaden my horizons and accept the commercial side of music. It wasn't long until I became a fan of Jay-Z. Jay-Z has taken hip-hop to another level. Besides having an undeniable flow and an ear for hit music, Jay was able to transform himself into a dominating presence in the boardroom. I admire his business sense.

Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?

Legend: I feel like hip-hop could use more soul. It lacks artists that speak from their heart. Don't get me wrong everyone wants and likes to hear a hit, but what about what's behind the music. Food for thought is what I have to give. I want the world to feel my pain through music. Only after the pain can one experience happiness. On my first album, I plan to release my pain. To be honest, I am the happiest I've ever been.

Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why? Legend: I'd like to work with Outkast! I believe they create music from a music lover's prospective. They make music according to what sounds good to THEM. Not the masses.

Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?

Legend: My music is groundbreaking, and timeless. I've been blessed with nearly twenty years of experience in just writing alone. That makes me special. I've been able to evolve with the times and seasons that hip-hop has experienced. I am hip-hop.

Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from fans about your music?

Legend: The response from the first single has been tremendous. Many have been kind enough to say, that they believe hip-hop is back. I've been told that lyrically, I have RAISED THE BAR. I'm humbled by all of the feedback that I have received.

Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?

Legend: Anyone interested in Legend can find me at www.myspace.com/thelegendishear

Isaac: What can fans expect from you in the next five years?

Legend: Nothing but music from my heart. I'm here to tell the world my story.

Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…

Legend: I'd like to give a shout-out to my mother, my father, all of my brothers and my sisters, my two nephews, all of my friends and my girlfriend for being the closest thing to my heart.

Isaac: Final words…

Legend: Failure is not an option.
