New Music Spotlight

LiTaL

Sonicbids

If you are looking for someone who is original, then I have one of the most original and talented performers out there in the music industry right now. LiTaL is an amazing singer/songwriter who promises to take music to a new level. Check out this recent interview we had with this entertainer. Enjoy!

Isaac: LiTaL, it is a pleasure to interview you on your first interview. I would like to first ask you how did you entered into the music industry.

LiTaL: I think somehow I've always been a part of the arts, even as a child. A few years ago, I met a man named Ron Harris who had some success as a producer, who started recording me and later worked with me on my artist development. That experienced opened the door to many amazing relationships and opportunities to do what I'm doing now.

Isaac: One of the reasons why I was drawn to you guys is because of your style/presence. Briefly elaborate on your background

LiTaL: My style... My presence. Just a combination of cultures, styles, eras... It's just me. I would say I have an "International" background.

Isaac: What is the most rewarding aspect to making music currently for you?

LiTaL: REWARDING? Oh my! Without any need to be cliché', I have to say the fans support and words to me. It's unreal. I spend a little time everyday on MySpace and in my emails. The stories and things I hear about what my music has done for these wonderful people have already changed my life.

It humbles me and makes me work harder. I have laughed more, and cried more than I have in years. And it's about them, not me. I don't have much time to be selfish anymore, or focused on my many issues, because I now feel responsible to keep doing what I do, to reach more.

Oh... It's so powerful and moving to get the kind of support I already have.

Isaac: What has discouraged you the most about making music?

LiTaL: Broken promises... People saying they would do this and that for me... And waiting and trusting that it would get done, but it never really did. I have been discouraged by people who kept telling me to just be a wife, and have kids and my voice isn't strong enough, or my look isn't "good" enough. Saying my writing wasn't strong enough... Most of them just couldn't see passed the issues to find something that does work in me. Fortunately, I finally found the ones I need who not only believed it me, but worked hard on me, and kept every promise to get me to this point. So, I'm not discouraged anymore.

Isaac: Do you have a personal philosophy about music? If so, what is it?

LiTaL: My personal philosophy about my music, because I can't speak for anyone else, is that I want it to feel powerful, to be a bit dark, but to speak of the light. I want it to send messages and affect peoples thinking and feelings. If you dance to my songs, maybe a remix, at some point, I want my lyrics to reach you even on the dance floor. My philosophy... Be authentic and powerful.

Isaac: An important date is coming up: "Journey Back" CD RELEASE 08.08.08. Describe the whole create process of bringing this project to life:

LiTaL: Wow! It was "hard work, and suffering, and feeling lost ... The pressures and the failures, to the hunger... Times I thought I would die alone, found a hand to lead me home!" - Those are the lyrics from "that's how I got here". They told me no. That I didn't have it; that I wouldn't make it. I joined forced with one man, who saw it differently. Something in him sparked and together, we have taken this journey. We built a close family, all of whom put their creative power into this with me. The stories, the music, the style, the sound... The attitude. It's all been a journey, and I've loved every minute of it; even when I was in tears and scared and doubting myself. I still loved it! And I never quit!! I could have... But I didn't.

Isaac: Why is being an independent musician important to you?

LiTaL: Right now, I just want to make music that's real to me. I don't' think about anything but that. I'm happier with my project than I think I would have been if I had been signed to one of the major labels. I got to tell my story. We said we didn't know how radio would feel about it, or clubs and even with all the hopes. We still just wanted to make it a full story... A project, the way Alanis did on her first record, or Janet Jackson's Velvet Rope-- or "future, sex, love, sound" by Justin. An experience! It's rare now, but I think we did it. I would love that extra million dollar marketing push, but I don't think it's that far away!

Isaac: Do you think the Internet has altered the path of music as an industry? If so, how?

LiTaL: Yes. It's given the ones that were turned away a chance to share. That's it. It's made an avenue for the guys with no money, no connections to have a voice. And in the balance of things, some of those voices are great and positive and full of light and some not so much. But the freedom to express is now fueled by the net... And I think there's no better way to reach the globe.

Isaac: I was able to peruse your site and thought it was creatively done. How important as an entertainer is it to have your own website?

LiTaL: It's soooo important. It's the Internet's "reality TV". People want to be close to you. They want to know things about you, study you, to decide if they want to keep paying attention; if you are worthy of their time. People like to be a voyeur into your life, your career, your images, and your music. The content is important because it gets them closer to you.

Isaac: I know that everybody has his or her idea of a dream artist, someone who for whatever reasons that person would just love to listen to and admire. As an entertainer yourself, if you could play with one of your "dream" musicians, anyone at all, who would it be and why?

LiTaL: Ahhhh!! That question. Well, it's this simple. Me and Madonna in a video, Me and Alanis writing an acoustic song and singing together, Me and Evanescence doing a rockin' duet and Me and Celine on a powerful, heartfelt ballad together. Can I just sit and listen to John Mayer? I don't think I could handle singing with him lol. Oh God... The dreams never end.

Isaac: What are you hoping to gain from your experience of being a musician and making music?

LiTaL: Enough of a platform to help... To make a difference, To help feed and clothe, To stop a suicide, To save a marriage or an abused wife, To inspire more to write and sing, To support the underdog and To save a life... Or many!

Isaac: What are you hopes for your music in the year 2009?

LiTaL: TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

Isaac: This is our Shout Out time. Please give props to anyone and everyone that matters the most to you.

LiTaL: Brett, Cha'n, Michelle, Sean, Teon, Octavio, Justin G!, Meatball, Teqila, Mommy and Daddy, my brother! Oh... The list goes on forever. Anyone and everyone I love.

Isaac: Final Words from LiTaL:

LiTaL: "let me go outside... Let me take to the road and go where ever it leads me... Let me go tonight... Let me walk on the edge and find a path that was pathed... For me!"
