New Music Spotlight April 2009 Edition
Liquid Blue
Liquid Blue
Isaac: How do you sum up 2008 for Liquid Blue?
Liquid Blue: We've been on the road lots; as usual. We completed two new songs, Earth Passport and Dominate. Probably our best stuff yet.
Isaac: Describe the music scene in San Diego, California.
Liquid Blue: Loads of talent in SD! Lots of muzo's want to live in San Diego. Great weather and a cool place for creativity. We just attended Earth Day this weekend and saw a great new band, Montecristo, featuring a singer, Emilo Conde who contributed a Spanish & Italian vocal parts to our new video (and song) Earth Passport. There seems to be a healthy increase in musical activism in San Diego. Yeah!
Isaac: What do you feel was the band's biggest accomplishment for 2008?
Liquid Blue: For me personally, going "green" is our best and most important accomplishment of 09. For 2008, playing at the Olympic kick-off concert was great but the overall highlight had to be performing in Belarus for 15,000 people last June.
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
Liquid Blue: Rage Against The Machine, Bob Marley, Peter Gabriel, John Lennon, Ani Difranco, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Marvin Gaye, Suzanne Vega, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, David Bowie, George Harrison, Ravi Shankar, NAS, Black Eyed Peas, Genesis, Yes, Jon Anderson, Joan Baez, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Moby, Bob Dylan, Madonna, Live, Sex Pistols, Sparks, Lenny Kravitz, Prince, Cheap Trick, Sly Stone, Stevie Wonder, Pearl Jam, Iggy Pop, Dave Matthews, Paris, MC5, Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, Cat Stevens, Pink Floyd, REM, CCR, Billy Bragg, Willie Nelson, Green Day, Midnight Oil, Randy Newman, The Cranberries, Jackson Browne, Public Enemy, Bad Religion, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, Patti Smith, The Clash, Sam Phillips, Johnny Cash, Paul Simon. These artists speak the truth and aren't afraid of power.
Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?
Liquid Blue: We bring a passion for music and change. We bring the unique experience of having visited 110 countries and our travels are reflected in our songwriting.
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?
Liquid Blue: Hard question. We'd love to work with any of the artists listed as influences. I'd love to work with Mick Jagger, whose writing has gotten more serious and introspective recently. I've always loved the Stones and he is a rock and roll god. Actually, he is the all-time rock star. It's great to see him writing more about social issues lately.
Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?
Liquid Blue: A fusion of western rock melodies with ancient & modern eastern elements and thoughtful lyrics about social issues. It's dance rock music to move your body and mind.
Isaac: What is your definition for Rock Music?
Liquid Blue: Rock music is guitar driven. It's the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, The Stones and the Sex Pistols as examples. It's a way to promote new ideas and radical change.
Isaac: What has been the inspiration behind making music?
Liquid Blue: Spreading a message of peace, love and social justice.
Isaac: What can fans expect from Liquid Blue in 2009?
Liquid Blue: Hopefully we'll stop touring long enough to put out some new music.
Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…
Liquid Blue: We owe a debt of thanks to all of our loyal fans who come out to our lives show and buy our music. Also want to say thanks to our promoter in China, Benjamin Chen as well as our new "green" sponsors Life Ionizers, ph-Ion and Gecko Solar.
Isaac: Final words from Liquid Blue…
Liquid Blue: Isaac, thanks for taking the time out to promote the music scene. To all our fans and everyone reading this, stay informed, question authority and stay active. Peace NOW!
