Junior's Cave Interview with Nicholas Mrozinski

Isaac: What has been the best part of 2009 for you musically so far?

Nicholas: CD Release party at one of Minneapolis' most storied venues, The Cedar Cultural Center for the new disc "Together We're Stronger" and having the opportunity to play alongside a well gifted group of folks from the Twin Cities area. It was a coming together of different worlds; it was truly a treat...an amazing evening.

Isaac: What do you feel has been the biggest accomplishment for 2009 so far?

Nicholas: The whole "Together We're Stronger" experience. Orchestrating this whole project with the very talented Dylan Nau and having top-notch Minnesota musicians that span over 40 local bands, playing "together" on the record. Then taking that record and transferring it to a live setting at The Cedar, for the release was truly a treat...an amazing evening. ;-)

Isaac: Describe the music scene in your area.

Nicholas: It is a very diverse scene with a lot of great music to offer. There are a lot of local bands that nobody's ever heard of playing on the same street as Prince, Atmosphere, Wookiefoot, Brother Ali, The Big Wu, Trampled By Turtles, Tapes n' Tapes, Charlie Parr, Low, Owl City, Root City Band, we could go on and on. Music thrives here.

Isaac: What has been the best venue to perform at and why?

Nicholas: Locally, The Cedar Cultural Center, The Varsity Theater, The Cabooze and Pantages Theater. The staff, the warmness of each room, the character of each place. Those have been my favorites.

Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?

Nicholas: Truly just life as a whole with all its many facets. It's the same way I approach music from Disney Tunes to Frank Zappa and from Ella Fitzgerald to Smashing Pumpkins. Every piece plays, and has played, a part. It's a mighty wide variety of influence. I seek to discover the passion that is music, in its many forms.

Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?

Nicholas: A lot of soul.

Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?

Nicholas: In fantasy land I would say, The Duke Ellington Orchestra with the Brothers Sherman sitting in, and Benny Goodman on Clarinet, and Billie Holiday on vocals. In current, real life, I would have to say Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings because they are the classiest act I've seen in a long time.

Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?

Nicholas: Conscious Global Pop that tugs on the heartstrings and is something you can, hopefully, really feel.

Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from fans about your music?

Nicholas: People say my music helps them through things in their life. They say it is healing. They say sometimes they need to be prepared to listen to it, that it is emotional. The most common response is, "you got a lot of soul"

Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?

Nicholas: iTunes, Myspace, Facebook, Twitter...all the links are at our home on the web www.thefeelin.com

Isaac: What can fans expect from you in the next five years?

Nicholas: 6 more albums. Going for ten albums in five years. Just released album #4. Maybe a help center of sorts, a book, a movie, an art gallery, and an Apple Orchard, who knows, the skies limit and I'm hoping for big things and to give back as much as I can along the way.

Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…

Nicholas: My little boy, my gal, my fish and my plants and the food that keeps us alive. To my family, thank you for life. To my friends and fans, thank you for all the love and support.

Isaac: Final words…
