Nisha
Nisha
From the very moment Nisha begins to sing, she instantly captures us with her soulful and seductive vocals. The young singer/songwriter, born in Germany to military parents, knew from an early age of her life that singing was her true calling. Nisha blends nicely the genre styles of R&B, NeoSoul, Pop, and Jazz into magical tunes that will have fans begging for more.
Isaac: How do you sum up 2008 for Nisha?
Nisha: I would sum up 2008 as a very monumental year for me as I've learned so much about myself as an artist. I really started see my vision come to life and all the right people started showing up as if they were hand picked; it has been such a blessing.
Isaac: Expound a little about growing up in Arlington, VA.
Nisha: I was born in Wiesbaden, Germany. My dad was in the Army so I had the privileged of being raised all over the world which provided a lot of exposure to different cultures and experiences.
Isaac: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment for 2008?
Nisha: My biggest accomplishment for 2008 has been the completion of my album as this has been a goal of mine since I'm a little girl; it truly is a dream come true. It's been quite a learning experience and though I've grown through the process, I've so much more to learn.
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
Nisha: Some of my favorite artists are: Amel Larrieux, Bjork, Billy Holiday, Diana Ross, Fiona Apple, Esthero, and Mary J. Blige because I connect to the emotional lyrical content of them all. I appreciate Amel's jazzy musical style and the amazing sound of her voice. I love Bjork's voice and her willingness to experiment with all types of instruments, sounds and subject matter. I've been inspired by Mary J and Billy Holiday's blues, Esthero's courage and Fiona's ability to arrange words so eloquently. These women continue to feed my soul.
Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?
Nisha: I feel I will bring diversity and lots of love to the music industry as this is what I write about most and with my appreciation of all music, I tend to cross genres quite a bit so expect to hear more of an eclectic sound from me as I plan to experiment with everything.
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?
Nisha: Wow, there are so many artist that I would love to work with but if I had to pick one today, I would chose Bjork because I've been touched so deeply by her music and the diversity she brings, I believe we could make something special; it gives me butterflies just thinking about it.
Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?
Nisha: I would describe my music to others as eclectic, alternative with soul, jazzy with rhythms of blues and splashes of pop and hip-hop.
Isaac: What is your definition for R&B Music?
Nisha: My definition of R&B music is soul, lovin, triumph and pain, which comes in many forms such as funk, blues and pop for example; it's like one big collage of crossed genres.
Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from your previous releases?
Nisha: This album will be my first release.
Isaac: What has been the inspiration behind your LP - Nisha The Metamorphosis?
Nisha: The inspiration behind this album are many things… love, my faith, this life as I experience it, but most of all "The Metamorphosis" is accepting my change while being able to maintain and spread my wings in the midst of chaos. I recognize that change is a part of life and its important to my growth, as long as I am trying, I am morphing into the best that I can be, this my butterfly effect, as an artist the butterfly effect gives me hope and keeps me working even when I feel I have no impact at all. As I flap my wings and experience this life, I find myself morphing into something worth sharing, a force to be reckoned with. These stages of growth are welcoming, allowing me to share my life with you.
Nisha: Fans can expect the release of my album so please stay tuned for the release date and when I'll be in a city near you so that you can come out and show your love and support.
Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…
Nisha: I would like to send my love to my love for all the love and support, to my manager, band members and all the people who have supported me thus far.
Isaac: Final words from Nisha…
Nisha: Keep it positive with much love, it's all we have.
