One Step Away

Sonicbids

One Step Away is comprised of four talented young guys who all hail from Boston, Massachusetts. One Step Away is the perfect Rock group for Rock music lovers all around the world. Adam Carrington, the band's lead singer, adds a strong male vocal with a powerful punch. Another strong part to the band's appeal is the sweet electrifying guitar of Terence, Mike's amazing bass, and Alex's kick ass Drums. In more recent news, One Step Away is scheduled to make their television debut over the weekend of May 29-31 on "Community Auditions: Star of the Day". This show is the nation's longest-running TV talent showcase. If you are interesting in learning more about the band, then check out this recent spotlight that our Webzine completed with One Step Away. Enjoy!

One Step Away:

Adam Carrington, Lead Vocals
Terence Healy, Lead Guitar
Mike Nuzzolo, Bass
Alex Kwmuntis, Drums

Isaac: What was the best part of 2008 for you musically?

One Step Away: Writing our first original songs. Performing live at large venues like Boston City Hall Plaza and the Rogers Center.

Isaac: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment for 2008?

One Step Away: Completion of our first EP: One Decision. We wrote music and lyrics, did the recording and mixing and copyrighting ourselves. We sold out of all our CDs in the first week of its release.

Isaac: Describe the music scene in your area.

One Step Away: The Boston Music Scene is intense and bursting with energy. There are many great bands and fans. There is a huge variety in tastes and genres. We wish there were bigger venues!

Isaac: What has been the best venue to perform at and why?

One Step Away: We really like playing at the Boston Hard Rock Café in the Cavern Club room. We like it because the staff is great, the sound is amazing and our fans love to come and eat and watch us perform. It is right across from Faneuil Hall so there are always a bunch of people who come in off the street to see us as well.

Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?

One Step Away: We all enjoy different bands and we bring their influences into our music to create a new sound. We are all very different and each of us has our individual influences as well. We bring in some of the 80's metal sounds from bands like Guns N Roses while also bringing sounds from modern bands like Daughtry, Three Doors Down, Third Eye Blind. Breaking Benjamin, Nickelback, Boys Like Girls and Creed.

We are also influenced not just by the sound of bands, but by how they perform on stage. We want to not just be a great sounding band, but a band that thrills their audiences. We watch other bands perform with an eye for how the audience reacts in order to pick up what we consider the 'best of' stage moves' and audience interaction.

Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?

One Step Away: We bring a new and fresh style and sound to the industry with vocals that soar over intricate and tight instrumentals. It is this new blend which we will bring to the music industry. We want to be like the Beatles or Guns N Roses with a long list of hit songs and albums and known over many generations. We will do this through delivering a new sound and providing exciting fluid stage performances.

We are prolific song writers. We love creating new music. We try to make our instrumentals complex and interesting enough so that you will hear something different the more you listen to it. Yet, we strive for very catchy vocal melodies that you can easily remember. We are all individually very strong musicians and we try to write songs that will allow all of us to shine.

We also deliver amazing stage performances. We provide the same great sound on stage that we deliver in the studio. We don't want anything 'piped in' on stage. We play the instrumentals right the first time through in the studio. We carry that to the stage - but with increased intensity from the adrenaline of the show. Some folks say that our live performance sound is even better than our studio sound! When we perform Covers, folks say they sound better than the originals. We want to be the 'real deal'. No smoke and mirrors. Just huge energy and crisp sound.

Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?

One Step Away: It would be Axl Rose or Slash from Guns N' Roses. They are true legends. They have written some of the most famous rock songs in history. Their appeal to such a wide range of people is truly a feat, and we would love the chance to learn from them. As for a group, perhaps it would be Three Doors Down. We appreciate the power of their music achieved through the combination of musicianship and strong vocals. We also would like to work with Nickelback as we admire their music and the way it appeals to a wide range of audiences

Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?

One Step Away: Our music has many influences from pop to hard rock. Melodic and powerful vocals float above intricate and tight instrumentals.

Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from fans about your music?

One Step Away: Folks say that we are unique and not like anything they have heard before. They find our new music exciting and energizing and it really comes out in our performances where our stage moves highlight key points in the music. We adore playing for huge audiences. The bigger the audience, the better we perform. Folks can NEVER believe our age. We don't play like a band comprised of sixteen year olds. We recently performed for Community Auditions, a New England based TV Talent Show, which is like a more encouraging form of American Idol. We got lots of great feedback which you will hear when you watch the shows (hint, hint). Michael Sweet from Stryper and now in Boston (the band) said: "I think you guys are amazing. You are really, really tight. Everyone is locked in and solid."

Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?

One Step Away: We are on several websites and songs from our One Decision EP are on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, eMusic and Napster. You can check us out online on Reverbnation, Pure Volume, LastFM, Myspace and Facebook. When you search us up on the web, look for One Step Away band and one of our last names (Nuzzolo, Carrington, Healy or Kwmuntis).

Isaac: What can fans expect from you in the next five years?

One Step Away: They can expect to see and hear a lot more of our music. We plan to release a full album next year and hopefully under a well-known label. Our songs will be recorded professionally and ready for radio play. We also hope to be on tour.

Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…
