Music Interview October 2009 Edition
Oscape
Oscape
Heavily influences by such iconic bands as Pink Floyd, Queensryche and Alice in Chains Oscape have created their own unique style with their dark edgy melodic tunes that will make Rock music lovers an instant fan of the band's music. One of the biggest appeals to Oscape's music is their catchy rock hooks that fans can really dig when listening to the band's music. The diversity of their songs, the hard-hitting lyrics, and their general theme (the state of our country) are all added bonuses to why Oscape is the band to not be missed. If you want music that not only kicks asses but will make you think, then Oscape will prove to deliver. Check out this recent spotlight with the band in this special spotlight. Enjoy!
Isaac: Hi guys, thank you for taking the time to complete this interview. Let's get started. What has been the best part of 2009 musically so far and what do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment in 2009?
Oscape: For us personally, it was releasing our E.P., "The Growing Ground". It feels good to see the end product after so much work and effort. Universally, it had to be the reunion tour of Faster Pussycat and The Bullet Boys.
The biggest accomplishment of 2009 was the change in the administration and the chance for our country to get straight again. The invention of the Sham Wow has to be a close second.
Isaac: hey, I like that product (laughs).
Isaac: Describe the music scene in your area.
Oscape: The Tucson scene is pretty diverse with a lot of places to play. There seems to be a lot of talented bands coming out of the woodwork. Unfortunately, there seems to be this ongoing battle between a lot of the bands and the promoters, which makes for a toxic environment.
Isaac: What has been the best venue to perform at and why?
Oscape: There are a lot of cool places to play in Tucson. The Rock, O'Malleys (great sound guy), Plush. I really like Crabby Don's in Phoenix because they are very cool people and always have a crowd hungry for music.
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why.
Oscape: Our biggest influences are Alice in Chains and New Model Army. Both of them have their own style, tell great stories, and have a very unique and distinct style. However, Pink Floyd is our biggest because they are in a league all their own. Amazing songwriters and amazing musicians.
Isaac: Let's discuss about what you believe Oscape brings to the music industry that is new and original.
Oscape: I feel that we bring a unique form of Rock with attitude and emotion. We are a bit dark but we are honest and true in our music and our message; sticking to what we enjoy playing and not what's trendy at the time.
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would that musician/band be and why would you select that artist/band?
Oscape: At this time, we would love to work with Serge from System of a Down or Maynard from Tool. Their music falls a little closer to ours and the lyrics are in the same vain as ours. Not to mention that they have both created their own style. I wouldn't kick Roger Waters out of my house if he wanted to jam either.
Isaac: If you had to describe your music to others, what would be your answer?
Oscape: Dark, hard rock seething with anger and frustration due to the current state of affairs.
Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from fans about the band's music?
Oscape: We are getting a lot of positive feedback from all over the world. Numerous comments regarding our lyrics, guitar work and melodies. People are enjoying the catchiness and the honesty of it.
Oscape: In five years, we will have more new music and hopefully, more extensive touring universally.
Isaac: Final thoughts and thank you from Oscape …
Oscape: Shout outs to all of our friends, families, and fans that have supported Oscape from day one. Thanks to Tucson and everyone's support and generosity. We have met some great people. Hi Sydney. AND a HUGE thanks to Junior's Cave for supporting the music scene and taking the time and resources to give us a chance. Thanks guys.
