Isaac: We'd love to know about your inspirations growing up. I hear so many influences in your music. How old were you when you first discovered music? Is there any kind of musical history in your family?

Petrella: Yes, I was five (5) and I was singing with my aunt and grandmother in their church choir. My aunt played the piano.

Isaac: What drew you to pick up an instrument in the first place?

Petrella: My aunt and my parents gave me piano lessons.

Isaac: As you hit your teenage years, did you know that this was what you would be doing for the rest of your life?

Petrella: Yes, but my parents thought majoring in business education & teaching would be a better way of making a living for a black woman.

Isaac: Is there a performer in any genre of pop culture that you would like to work with?

Petrella: I would like to work with a hip-hop artist such as Nelly to add a spoken work to some of my songs.

Isaac: Who are some musicians that you really like, present or past?

Petrella: Bonnie Paitt or Dolly Parton.

Isaac: What is your ultimate goal with your music career?

Petrella: To continue to introduce "Country-soul" as a genre of music.

Isaac: What has been some of the obstacles it has taken to get this far in your career?

Petrella: Not having label support to elevate more to radio & TV.

Isaac: Would you recommend this "field" to others who are aspiring to be musicians like you?

Petrella: Sure but get another means for eating while you are growing in this field.

Isaac: Describe one piece of advice you've have been given to by others in the music industry.

Petrella: Follow your gut and live with your passion.

Isaac: What genre of music do you consider most of your music?

Petrella: Both Country and Soul.

Isaac: What has been your favorite piece of work?

Petrella: Bonnie Raitt "Thing Called Love".

Isaac: How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?

Petrella: Fans can gain access to my music through CD baby or at my web site www.countryversial.com

Isaac: Is there anyone you'd like to acknowledge for offering financial or emotional support?

Petrella: Yes, Jack Gale, Playback Records signed me in 1990 and the Los Angeles Songwriters Association (John Brahenny) gave me my songwriting tools.

Isaac: Any last words?

Petrella: Follow your dreams and live your passion.
