Are you ready for a new genre of music to be introduced into the music scene, check out this interview with the artist Petrella who is hoping music fans will rejoice over what she calls Country-Soul. If you are tired of the same of type of music with no originality being played on the radio, then Petrella's music is going to hit all the right spots. Isaac: We'd love to know about your inspirations growing up. I hear so many influences in your music. How old were you when you first discovered music? Is there any kind of musical history in your family?
Petrella: Yes, I was five (5) and I was singing with my aunt and grandmother in their church choir. My aunt played the piano.
Isaac: What drew you to pick up an instrument in the first place?
Petrella: My aunt and my parents gave me piano lessons.
Isaac: As you hit your teenage years, did you know that this was what you would be doing for the rest of your life?
Petrella: Yes, but my parents thought majoring in business education & teaching would be a better way of making a living for a black woman.
Isaac: Is there a performer in any genre of pop culture that you would like to work with?
Petrella: I would like to work with a hip-hop artist such as Nelly to add a spoken work to some of my songs.
Isaac: Who are some musicians that you really like, present or past?
Petrella: Bonnie Paitt or Dolly Parton.
Isaac: What is your ultimate goal with your music career?
Petrella: To continue to introduce "Country-soul" as a genre of music.
Isaac: What has been some of the obstacles it has taken to get this far in your career?
Petrella: Not having label support to elevate more to radio & TV.
Isaac: Would you recommend this "field" to others who are aspiring to be musicians like you?
Petrella: Sure but get another means for eating while you are growing in this field.
Isaac: Describe one piece of advice you've have been given to by others in the music industry.
Petrella: Follow your gut and live with your passion.
Isaac: What genre of music do you consider most of your music?
Petrella: Both Country and Soul.
Isaac: What has been your favorite piece of work?
Petrella: Bonnie Raitt "Thing Called Love".

Isaac: Is there anyone you'd like to acknowledge for offering financial or emotional support?
Petrella: Yes, Jack Gale, Playback Records signed me in 1990 and the Los Angeles Songwriters Association (John Brahenny) gave me my songwriting tools.
