It becomes evident as to what type of Singer/Songwriter Scott DeCarlo is after listening to such great tracks as "Anything" and "One More". Each song's main focus is on building strong relationship with that person one loves. DeCarlo also has the natural gift of constructing beautiful lyrics such as "I'm in love with the air you breathe" that fans will care about and music fans can appreciate. One of his strongest points is his powerful voice that captures every note when DeCarlo sings. In this spotlight with our Webzine, Scott DeCarlo speaks about his music and what fans can expect from him. Here is what developed.
Isaac: What has been the best part of 2009 for you musically?
Scott: 2009 has been pretty interesting. I have to say that putting together the band that I have playing with me now has probably been the best for my live performance. I've been able to collaborate with a great man and friend by the name of Clint Bullard in Nashville Tennessee. His friendship and creativity have facilitated the recording of some of the greatest Music I've created to date.
Isaac: What do you feel has been the biggest accomplishment for 2009 so far?
Scott: The biggest accomplishment has got to be the latest recording sessions that I had down in Nashville. I brought five songs to the table (two of which were co written with Clint Bullard), I had the best players in "The Vill", as I like to refer to it, play on the recordings. The entire project was produced by Eric Legg (Producer of the Dixie Chicks "Wide Open Spaces" Grammy album) and Clint.
Scott: Well, I think it's the same no matter where you go nowadays. There is no original scene unless you're creating it yourself. Self-promotion is it! I live in NJ and I've been fortunate enough to have established a loyal fan base there, through a lot of time and hard work.
I'm looking forward to getting spread across the map though now. I've done some Nashville playing and Florida performances where the reception has been very warm!
Isaac: What has been the best venue to perform at and why?
Scott: I think I've had the most fun performing at South Street Seaport in NYC "Pier 17," because the crowd was so diversified and welcoming. Performing is all about the fun to me and the fun I can help others have. They just seemed to get it!
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
Scott: I've been influenced by so many and for so many different reasons. Growing up, my mother was one of those people who went out and bought all the new music 45's (called singles today…lol) every week or month and came home and played them all weekend long. I guess she had the
biggest influence on my appreciation for diversity. As writers and performers go, I grew up on Elvis, Queen, Boston, Journey, Bowie, Rod Stewart, Elton John and jeez, so many more. I'm a very big fan of Ed Roland's writing (Collective Soul), Bono of U2 and Garth Brooks because they make you think and they are also the best performers I've ever had the pleasure of seeing (inclusive to this group is Bon-Jovi and the Rascall Flatts.
Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?
Scott: I'd like to think I could bring a breath of freshness, something not so out of the ordinary, but a sense of uniqueness and quality. Something real…
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?
Scott: Who wouldn't want to create with Paul Mccartney? I believe him to be one of the greatest musical talents of all time.
Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?
Scott: A whole lot of rock with a hint of country!
Isaac: Scott, I agree with that description of your music. Solid stuff!
Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from fans about your music?
Scott: Well, It wasn't cool to be me a few years ago! I was playing acoustic for myself and a soundman in a few different places however, all of a sudden people start showing up and instead of no feedback at all, all of a sudden the crowd grows, the feedback is positive and although I'm still not cool, the feedback is to keep on keeping on.
Facebook, Twitter… and I guess anything else I can find to use as a facilitator in the future!
Isaac: What can fans expect from you in the next five years?
Scott: More great songs, performances and collaborations!
Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…
Scott: A great big thank you and hello to JB-AKA Boss Lady, Clint and Trisha Bullard, all the guys at the East Rutherford Police Department in NJ, and the faithful fans that I appreciate so much! Katie, Niece Lynda, brother Chris, Nick, Gabe, "The Witz" and the keeper of the lair big Al!
Isaac: Final words…
Scott: Thank YOU! This opportunity is greatly appreciated!
