New Music Spotlight
April 2009 Edition

Sideways Reign

Sideways Reign

Sonicbids

Sideways Reign, based in Union, Washington, is a band full of energy, talent, and passion. Each member to the group brings something unique and fresh to make them one of the best groups currently out on the market. It does not matter if they are performing in their local bars or larger venues Sideways Reign will always entertain the masses. In this ultra fun spotlight, Justin Stang, Vocals, Guitars, speaks candidly about what he loves to do the most; making music and having a good time doing it.

Isaac: Hi, welcome to your interview with Junior's Cave. Now that 2008 has officially ended, what are your reflections of the year 2008 for you as a group?

Sideways Reign: Very productive. We released our debut full-length album, "A Stand For All Stages," and have been touring the Northwest to support it.

Isaac: What has drawn you to wanting to make music?

Sideways Reign: The ability to create songs (even if it's just one) that will have an impact on individuals in the same way that music had on us growing up.

Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?

Sideways Reign: Individually our influences range widely from member to member--from Van Morrison to Slayer to Phish to The Smashing Pumpkins. Collectively, we draw influence from bands such as The Allman Brothers, Blind Melon, Bob Marley, State Radio, Dispatch, Rage Against the Machine, and most importantly, our local music scene.

Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?

Sideways Reign: In the greater scope of music, a cycle always forms, and we would like to be a part of bringing rock and roll back to its roots, with simple chord progressions, catchy guitar solos, and unique vocals--a re-grounding, if you will, from overinflated pop and rock music.

Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?

Sideways Reign: While the list is far too great to choose, we'll default by saying Bob Marley; his message of peace, love and harmony is so important and universal...if we could bring him back, we could all learn sooo much!

Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?

Sideways Reign: Energy-driven reggae-influenced blues-rock Americana.

Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from your previous releases?

Sideways Reign: A Stand For All Stages" was described by unpeeled.net as "Funk-hard rock master class, from top to bottom." Fans have embraced both of our CD's and look forward to the next one.

Isaac: What can fans expect from your latest CD, you are working on currently? What is the inspiration behind the CD?

Sideways Reign: Our newest songs are more hook-riff oriented, with tighter arrangements, and shorter, more radio-friendly formats.

Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?

Sideways Reign:

www.myspace.com/sidewaysreign

iTunes, Facebook, twitter and more!

Isaac: What can fans expect from you in 2009?

Sideways Reign: Heavy touring and a new disc by the end of summer.

Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans.

Sideways Reign: Big thanks so far to all those that keep us going. Special thanks for northwest jam band, and great friends, High Ceiling. Thanks to sound engineer Floyd Reitsma.

Isaac: Final words...

Sideways Reign: We greatly appreciate Isaac's time and energy. Thank you so much for letting us share our music with you and your audience.
