New Music Spotlight September 2009 Edition
SoulsilenS
SoulsilenS
This next artist brings an excitement and joy to the music industry that will make fans cheer for the indie artist. Born in Brazil, Andrei SoulsilenS is making music with a unique sound, catchy hooks, melodic inspiring rock/alternative tunes, and auspicious vocals. The meaning of SoulsilenS states The silence of the soul, and we tend to agree with this meaning especially when you are listening to a track full of soul and heart like "Walk With Me". In this spotlight with the artist, SoulsilenS shares a piece of his own soul with our readers in this special spotlight.
Isaac: We'd love to know about your inspirations growing up. I hear so many influences in your music. How old were you when you first discovered music? Is there any kind of musical history in your family?
SoulsilenS: Isaac thanks for the opportunity first of all. Well, I grew up in Brazil, in a city called Osasco, this city is neighbor with São Paulo, the biggest city of South America. The American musical culture is very influential there as well as other musical cultures. When I was about 3 years old, I started trying to make noise with my father's acoustic guitar and harmonica. I think from that point on, it just built up... and it's still building up.
As far as family, my great-grandfather was a musician as a hobby... but I never met him, just know it by the stories. My father taught me to hold the guitar and pick the strings... it's just his hobby too. It is weird that part of my family thinks art is a curse.
Isaac: What drew you to pick up an instrument in the first place?
SoulsilenS: Believe or not, as a baby and then as a child, I wanted to create, to express myself, and to attract attention of course...lol. Still to this very day, when I pick my guitar I feel like I'm free, like no one is forcing me to anything.
Isaac: Amazing!
Isaac: As you hit your teenage years, did you know that this was what you would be doing for the rest of your life?
SoulsilenS: Somehow I did, maybe fear generated by family made me admit fake things... I was thirteen years old when I decided to form my own band. I was about 9 or 10 when I got my first electric guitar... I didn't want to play soccer, to play video games... I just wanted to practice, write music... that was 90% of my infancy.
Isaac: Is there a performer in any genre of pop culture that you would like to work with?
SoulsilenS: There are many, many, and many of them. If I could record one song with each existing artist on Earth, I would definitely do so! Not only American artists, I would like to explore a lot of other cultures too. Now, inside the rock n roll world, The Rolling Stones are near to the top of that list, Paul McCartney too. Madonna...
Isaac: Who are some musicians that you really like, present or past?
SoulsilenS: Silverchair, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Foo fighters, Nirvana, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, Chris Cornell... These are some who I really like, but I don't just listen to them. I listen to everything, from Classic music to Brazilian music, African beats, Egyptian sounds... haha, anything.
Isaac: What is your ultimate goal with your music career?
SoulsilenS: To be happy, to record all songs I write, and perform them. To have people that like me for what I am as an artist. And that it lasts forever.
Isaac: What has been some of the obstacles it has taken to get this far in your career?
SoulsilenS: Honestly, the biggest obstacle I've found so far in my music career is to find trustworthy people. I've discovered that a lot of people in this business are emotional vampires; they suck the energy, the money, the life and the love from each other. Trust has being a huge issue for me right now. I am skeptical with people, because of all the stabs in the back.
Isaac: I can also agree with this statement too!
Isaac: Would you recommend this "field" to others who are aspiring to be musicians like you?
SoulsilenS: Absolutely yes! If you have a passion follow it, believe it, and accomplish it no matter what! It's your dream, it's your propose, it's your existence! Do it!
Make sure you learn as you go, because underneath every stone on the way, there is a message of knowledge with the key to the next door. And make sure you remember to be honest all the way through.
Isaac: Describe one piece of advice you've have been given to by others in the music industry.
SoulsilenS: A lot of people have advised me to keep independent. Make it independently. But one of them gave me the best of all: Persist! Keep on writing them songs. And the author of this amazing piece of advice is Kenny Gamble.
Isaac: What genre of music do you consider most of your music?
SoulsilenS: Grunge.
Isaac: What has been your favorite piece of work?
SoulsilenS: My last work, still to be released, and that's because I was forced to record every single instrument by myself. I had to create and learn all tracks, and once I connected the music with my soul and with the Source of Inspiration, God, it was amazing.
Isaac: How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?
SoulsilenS: Official SoulsilenS.com will give them everything they need to fall in love with me. Although you can find SoulsilenS in almost all Social Media sites, and even if you Google SoulsilenS, you will find a lot of it. Soon, I will have the website in Portuguese as well to facilitate it for some fans.
Isaac: Is there anyone you'd like to acknowledge for offering financial or emotional support?
SoulsilenS: God.
Isaac: Any last words?
SoulsilenS: Thanks again!
SoulsilenS: for the opportunity Isaac and Juniorscave.com. And a message for my fans-to-be is welcome to SoulsilenS.com.
