New Music Spotlight
April 2009 Edition

Stacie Rose

Stacie Rose

Sonicbids

When she sings, she has a certain way with her words that will instantly have you hooked. The New Jersey native packs a mean punch when she is performing, and she certainly knows how to rock like a superstar that would please any Rock music fan. What makes Stacie Rose so irresistible is that she is appealing and fun to listen to when she is singing. She is also making original music that has her own signature. In this recent spotlight with our magazine, Stacie talks to us one of one in this super fun interview.

Isaac: How do you sum up 2008 for Stacie Rose?

Stacie: Creative, tumultuous, exciting, enlightening… We were making and releasing Shotgun Daisy, My third album. It was a very musical, very collaborative, fast and furious, busy time. I got to bond a lot with Producers Jeff Allen & Robert L Smith. It was wonderful to have a team, a mission, and music to make. I was pretty tapped out by the end of 2008 emotionally, spiritually, etc. but very proud of our record.

Isaac: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment for 2008?

Stacie: SHOTGUN DAISY, getting distribution for the record, and some of the music placements. I had songs on MTV, FUSE, AMC, AMERICAN AIRLINES, I have gotten more radio play then ever and really nice press.

Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences have been the music industry and why?

Stacie: Stevie Nicks: for her songwriting, electrifying performances, Tom Petty, for his rock n roll song-writing, straight forward classic approach. Bob Marley for his unique voice and universally beautiful songs the police for rock, reggae greatness.

Billie Holiday and Billy Corgan- For their uniquely beautifully tortured vocals. Patsy Cline & Nat King Cole for their velvety, vocal delivery.

PJ Harvey for her indy fierceness. Lucinda Williams for her songs That make beauty out of tragedy. Genre-benders like Ryan Adams and Beck for their "I'm gonna make whatever the F kind of music I feel like" approach. U2, Prince, and The Stones, Fleetwood Mac and the Beatles for their longevity. Sheryl Crow for her pop-country-rock crossover song-writing . Sade and Maxwell for their sexiness, Jamiroquai for his funky-retro soulful, sassiness.

Madonna for her 'Made u look, made u dance" mentality there are so many others!

Isaac: WOW! Impressive list! I think everyone you listed I am a BIG fan of their music.

Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?

Stacie: Honesty, Authenticity, humanity hotness ; )

Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?

Stacie: Oh boy...there are many…

T-Tone Burnett, Billy Corgan, Ne-Yo, Radiohead, Tom Petty, Lucinda Williams, Ryan Adams, Thievery Corporation, Doug Pettibone, Mick Jagger, Kings of Leon, Butch Vig, Mike Pela, Joe Henry, The Kooks, Keane, Rufus Wainwright.

Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?

Stacie: How would YOU describe my music to others?

Isaac: Read my introduction for that one folks :-)

Isaac: Describe your relationship with your band members. What has been the most rewarding aspect about working with your band?

Stacie: It's nice to be able to describe a vibe or a sound you have in mind for a A new song and everyone gets it. They bring the right musical nuances to the songs and help expand my ideas, develop the arrangements and ultimately bring the songs to life. I really believe in working with people you respect and trust musically-who can bring their bag of tricks to the table.

Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from your previous releases such as your debut album, SHADOW & SPLENDOR?

Stacie: Really good feedback nationally and locally, that feedback has helped fuel my newer projects. You ultimately need to believe in yourself...Or putting out music would be too daunting. But you do get a rush when other people enjoy your music and help spread the word! It's very rewarding.

Isaac: What can fans expect from your latest CD, SHOTGUN DAISY? What is the inspiration behind the CD?

Stacie: A collection of good pop songs, that brought me out of a hole and back into life as I wrote and recorded them,

I don't know that there was a specific inspiration as much as a need to write. I call it a flood..the songs just pour out of me. When there are many, I start to gather them, nurture them, and then the 2nd round of momentum kicks in. First it's the writing momentum, then the lull, deep breath, then the arranging, producing, recording momentum and then the deep breath again. So I guess it's more the process then the inspiration that is tangible to me; the inspiration is a bit more mystical and seems to come on a song by song or life-cycle basis. Does that make sense?

Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?

Stacie: You can Google me, Facebook me, MySpace me, CDBaby me and Pandora me... www.stacierose.com.

Myspace, iTunes, Amazon, Facebook, Reverbnation, Indie911, Rhapsody, Napster, YouTube, eMusic. I am very accessible. I just can't do the twitter thing yet, but I'm sure I will get the hang of it.

I think I am too over stimulated at this point, dreaming of becoming a yoga instructor and moving to Bali.

Isaac: What can fans expect from Stacie Rose in 2009?

Stacie: New music Videos, More songs. I am writing a lot these days. More collaboration. More rock, more pop. I am thinking about dance music a lot, and lots of colors...Maybe I will be the next club queen?

Isaac: Final words from Stacie Rose...

Stacie: Peace out cub scout!
