She has the energy, raw talent, and overall right stuff that will sure to take this Pop Diva all the way to the top of the Pop music industry. We recently caught up with this superstar in the making in this exclusive interview. Please take the moment to read this spotlight and discover the magic of Stacy B.
Isaac: Welcome to our music page of Junior's Cave Online Magazine. We are excited to feature you for the month of January. Let's start off this interview. Who were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
Stacy B: Back then, my biggest influences were Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson. These women were influential to me because they each dominated a particular part of music industry that is and was so important to me. Janet brought dance, Mariah and Whitney brought powerful vocals and Madonna revolutionized pop music by dominating the charts with her never ending hit singles.
Isaac: When I am listening to your music, it makes me feel good and groove my body. How do you begin to construct the lyrics and beats for your music? What is your inspiration?
Stacy B: Thank you, lol! I'm glad that my music makes you feel good, and it makes you dance!! I like to construct different songs that do just that. Make you feel good. There is no specific process that I have when I am constructing my lyrics to a beat or even making a beat myself. Some songs I write have double meanings to them which involve a lot of thought, but other songs I write are just simple, relatable and catchy. My inspiration is anything and everyone. I let life's experiences guide the pen on my paper. I also let the vibe of the beat tell me what it wants me to write. I love writing new lyrics, melodies, harmonies and creating new beats!
Isaac: How has music also shaped your life?
Stacy B: Music has definitely shaped my life! I've sacrificed so many things to be able to do my music. Having this dream is not only a beautiful gift, but it can be so hard sometimes. Everyday I pray that I move to the top bigger, better and faster then I've ever imagined. I honestly came from nothing, leaving my friends and family behind to pursue my dreams. Music is what I was born to do, so I devote all my time and energies to my future.
Isaac: How do you prepare to perform live in front of an audience? What are some of the thoughts going through your head before the performance?
Stacy B: When I'm performing there are a million thoughts that are running through my head, but I take a deep breathe and focus. The most important thing I think about is my audience, my fans. To pre-pare for my performances I usually do a vocal warm up and take a swig of olive oil, to coat my throat. Right before a set, I also pray with my band and dancers to thank all the blessing that we've received.
Isaac: What has been the biggest challenge for you as an artist?
Stacy B: The biggest challenge for me as an artist is funding and not having a major management company or record label. I've started my own company, Stacy B Music LLC, which incorporates my promotions team, band, dancers and many other key people that I have working with me in order to help me accomplish my dreams. Almost always, everyone donates their time and services to me because they believe in me. I try to do all that I can, in order to thank them for all that they do, but sometimes I wish I could give more. I am truly blessed to have people who believe in me and my music so much! I appreciate all the hard work they do and everything they put forth! Each and every person in my camp is an intricate piece of my Stacy B Music team!
Isaac: What do you think about the current state of our economy? Have you tackled any current issues through your music?
Stacy B: I think that people need to be educated about the current state of our economy. It's bad right now obviously, but if we as a nation can understand what small things we can do to jump start it, we'll be able to sustain and ultimately better our economy status. There's a saying that says "it takes money to make money" and for the most part that's true. As a consumer when we purchase products or services from companies, ie: Jive Records, we are ultimately creating jobs and circulating the economy. I know that hardship and time will come before the full repair of our economy, but it's just food for thought. I have yet to address this issue with my music, but there's more music to come so you'll just have to watch and listen to find out...
Isaac: How important has having an official website been for you as an artist?
Stacy B: Growing up, one of the things that I've always dreamed about was having an official website! It was super important to me! Thanks to Multimedia Graphics that dream came true!
Isaac: What are some current projects that fans new and old can look forward from you?
Stacy B: Well, besides upcoming music, photos and videos, my fans will enjoy new magazine and radio interviews as well as bigger and better performances. There is so much to be done! I am not going to sleep after I get done with the holidays!
Isaac: Please give shout outs to your family, friends, and fans!
Stacy B: Hey all you Stacy B fans and friends! Thank you for all your support! I couldn't be doing this with out you! Thank you Isaac for interviewing me. You Rock! Also, I'd like to give a special thanks to my family, JD (Stacy B Music promotions), Rich (Multimedia Graphics) and Lucas (KDWB) for believing in me and being awesome individuals.
