New Music Spotlight March 2009 Edition
Vampure
Vampure
Take three guys who are all driven by passion and a deep love for music then mix them together in a band the outcome that you will have is the group Vampure; each member of the group perfectly placed. Vampure's mission is to take music to a new level. They want to make music something more than just listening to music. They want to make music a way of life; an experience that connects all of us together. In this recent interview with our Webzine, each member of the band shares a little about himself and what fans can expect from them.
Isaac: Hi Everyone. Welcome to your interview with Junior's Cave. Now that 2008 has officially ended, what are your reflections of the year 2008 for Vampure?
Damien: It was a crazy year! I had been really heartbroken with music after my last band broke up. I decided to completely focus on my design firm and the clothing line I design (Kallusive Clothing). Now matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't stop writing new music. Every once in a while someone would accidentally hear something I was working on, and tell me I was stupid for not trying to do music. I ended up moving to Seattle, but I still couldn't stop writing music. I decided to release one song a little over a month ago as a kind of a final stand. I uploaded the song to MySpace, and went to sleep. The next day when I came back to the computer, the response was overwhelming. Over 1000 plays the first day, 100+ messages from new fans, fans created a street team on their own and one fan even made a video on YouTube with the lyrics to the song. The next day, I dropped all of my clients, killed the design firm, and started packing to go back to Los Angeles.
Isaac: How did the three of you come together as a group? What has drawn you to each other?
Damien: Anthony and I have practically grown up together making music. We both feel the same when it comes to putting 100% heart and energy into everything we do. When the music exploded, he was definitely the natural choice for me. Scott is someone Anthony and I have both played in bands with and we were friends with. He's just an awesome musician with a lot of heart.
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
Damien: Sevendust, Tool, Silverchair, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Slipknot... I really love bands that are uncompromising when it comes to who they are as artists. I love bands that create an experience and not just music.
Anthony: I would say Jonathan Davis. Back in HS I met Damien for the first time after Gym class; he approached me after overhearing me attempt "twist" at my locker. We started playing together shortly after that.
Scott: Tool. Stunning visual FX during the live show. Very Art-rock.
Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel Vampure will bring to the music industry?
Damien: I feel like we are going to bring a lot of passion and innovation to the industry. We love connecting with fans, hiding hidden messages in communications, just making it exciting to be a VAMPURE fan. I think we are gonna bring something more innovative than just music.
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?
Damien: Danny Lohner or Chris Vrenna. I love the work Vrenna did on the American McGee's Alice Soundtrack.
Anthony: I would have to say Jonathan Davis. I wouldn't care what I did, just let me be involved in some way... lol. His music has always hit home with me. He makes some intense music, he is truly amazing.
Scott: I would love for Adam Jones to direct a Vampure video. I think he would do best at painting Vampure on screen.
Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?
Damien: Alternative, because it's the simplest answer, although we definitely have a dance, Goth, industrial vibe to our music.
Anthony: I'd say were pretty dark and melodic but still very electric and alive. Like nothing I've really heard.
Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from your previous releases?
Damien: We have released two singles so far, and the response has been overwhelming for both. We got a ton of messages from really excited fans, wanting to know when we were going to release our album and when we were going to be going on tour. I really hope we will be able to answer those questions soon.
Isaac: What can fans expect from your latest CD, you are working on currently? What is the inspiration behind the CD?
Damien: We are recording a lot of material right now in preparation for our upcoming shows. We will continue to record, and plan on putting out an EP with "For Never for Always", "Erase Me" and at lease 2 additional new songs.
Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?
Damien: We really love to connect with every single fan, so MySpace is great. Fans can check out our Official Site at: www.vampure.com and on MySpace at: www.myspace.com/vampuremusic
Isaac: What can fans expect from Vampure in 2009?
Damien: The unexpected.
Anthony: Us giving absolutely everything we have. Playing as many shows as we can and really connecting with as many fans as possible.
Scott: Tons of shows and great music. We've received such positive feedback in the first few months and it's only going to get bigger.
Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans?
Damien: We just really want to thank everyone that is supporting us, buying the singles on iTunes, sending us messages, supporting our dream. We will not let you down, and promise to give you something special.
Isaac: Final words from Vampure…
Damien: We want to meet every single person who cares enough to listen and support our band. Our first show will be at The Key Club in Hollywood on May 2nd. Tickets are available now at Vampure.com
