New Music Spotlight May 2009 Edition
Viv Peyrat
Viv Peyrat
He has one of the most amazing voices that I have heard in a long time. And his vocals will simply melt you away when you hear him sing. He beautifully blends Acoustics, Electrics, Pop, Rock, Funk, Blues, & R&B into wonderful melodious tunes. He also happens to be a super talented guitarist who when one hears him perform will instantly be mesmerized. Who is this artist? He is the amazing Viv Peyrat and this is his story.
Isaac: How do you sum up 2008 for Viv Peyrat?
Viv: Well 2008 was a big year because I decided to leave my band and start to do things on my own. I moved back east and started writing songs in November 2008 to end up recording my first EP as a solo artist in January 2009.
Isaac: Expound a little about growing up in Pennsylvania.
Viv: My hometown of Abington is awesome. We're 20 minutes from Philadelphia, so it's not a middle of nowhere town; it's actually real chill.
Isaac: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment for 2008?
Viv: Deciding to do things on my own.
Isaac: You recently went solo for the 1st time. Describe how this transition has been for you.
Viv: It was scary at first because I was so used to playing in bands all the time, but I've gotten great feedback so far from everyone so I'm feeling great about the change.
Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?
Viv: I have a million influences. My main ones would have to be Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, The Beatles, John Mayer, and Bob Marley; they made and still make amazing music, with a ton of heart to it.
Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry as a solo artist?
Viv: I think I have a lot to bring. I'm trying to find a good mix between songwriting and guitar solos and melodies, and bring it all together using different styles of music.
Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?
Viv: I would love to work with John Mayer; I'm sure I'd be able to learn so much from him.
Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?
Viv: It's a mix of Pop and Rock, and Reggae and Blues, with some guitar solos thrown on top. I would describe it as heartfelt positive music.
Isaac: What is your definition for Rock Music?
Viv: Rock music to me is anything with energy, and anything that gets you hyped and excited. I don't believe in categorizing music but rock definitely has to have that edge to it.
Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from your previous releases?
Viv: Well this is my first release, and it's getting great feedback. Everyone from little kids to older adults dig it, so I'm really happy with the response.
Isaac: What can fans expect from your EP released in January 2009? What is the inspiration behind this EP?
Viv: They can expect some feel good music. It's something they can dance and move to. I guess the inspiration is a mix of making a big change in my life, and my girlfriend, and kind of how I felt at the end of 2008.
Isaac: What can fans expect from Viv Peyrat in 2009?
Viv: A lot. I'm going to be writing a bunch, and playing a ton of shows. I'll have some new songs out at the end of April, so they can definitely expect a lot of new things.
Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans.
Viv: I want to say thanks to my family and friends for supporting me 200% and for being the coolest people in the world.
Isaac: Final words from Viv Peyrat.
Viv: I want to say thank you to anyone that's ever made beautiful music. You've touched my heart, and I want to say thank you to anyone that's ever supported me. Look out for me in 2009 :-) Big things are on the way.
