Isaac-Joseph: Could you give the readers of our magazine a quick overview of who is Bonner Fuller?
Bonner: Who am I? That’s a tough question. I guess I'm just your average guy. I have a passion for music and a passion for people. Blend them together and you get me.
Isaac-Joseph: Your music certainly appears to derive from assorted life-learned experiences. What role has your real ups and downs in life play with your delivery of your music?
Bonner: I couldn't write without life's ups and downs; now more-so than ever. For this new EP being released, I've strictly relied on personal experiences; the good, the bad, and the ugly so to speak. I believe it allows me to really connect with my listeners on a personal level.
Isaac-Joseph: You released Hearts on Display in 2006. What had been the reactions from the fans on this album?
Bonner: Oh, we've had great response. Everyone really seems to have enjoyed it. Though, the material on Hearts on Display is nearly four years old. The fans are begging for new material, and that’s what they'll be getting soon. Don't get me wrong though, I still wouldn't mind selling out of the remaining copies of Hearts on Display.
Isaac-Joseph: Describe the feeling you get when you are performing live on stage in front of your fans:
Bonner: Goodness, where do I start? It's an amazing feeling being on stage and in front of all my fans. It's rather hard to describe though. I will never grow tired of it... I do know that!
Isaac-Joseph: If you have a choice not to make music, at this point in your life, do you ascertain yourself doing anything else? Or is music the only choice for you? Why or why not?
Bonner: I'm too deep into the rabbit-hole to get out now. I've experienced the many awesome things a career in music has to offer. I've toured with many other bands as backing guitarist and have had many other amazing opportunities. So if for some reason my music never made it to the shelves, I’d still be doing something in the field of music.
Isaac-Joseph: I consider that you have one of the most original presences in the music industry. How important is being your own identity for you as an artist? Explain in detail.
Bonner: First off, I really appreciate that. I believe it is ESSENTIAL to be you. True music and songwriting isnt about pretending to be someone else, its about expressing yourself, putting yourself out there and telling your story. I believe that is the only way to do it.
Isaac-Joseph: What is the music scene like in the state of Kentucky? Do you believe that your current residency help shaped what type of music you would play? Why or why not?
Bonner: Well, I would have to say yes and no. I grew up around music. My parents are musicians and artists themselves. So since day one, I have been heavily involved in music. The music scene around here however is not very supporting of my style of music. Thus, to really build a following, traveling is essential. Don't get me wrong, I have a solid group of supporters in my area, though I will be making a move sometime soon in hopes to further my career.
Isaac-Joseph: What can we expect from you the rest of 2007 and 2008?
Bonner: Expect the unexpected. I've grown up a lot since Hearts on Display has been written; musically as well as personally. I believe the new material is reflective of that. Of course, the fans will ultimately be the decision makers.
I can't say too much, though expect 2007-08 to be a big year for myself and my band-mates.
Isaac-Joseph: Thanks for taking the time to complete this interview. Any last thoughts you would like to share with the readers of this magazine?
Bonner: I just thank you for believing in me and ask you to keep it up. Purchase a CD, see a show, and tell a friend. I couldn't do any of this without you!
