Captain America Is Dead: Who would have thought?

Marvel Comics' Captain America first made his debut in 1941. Those who were around during this time will remember him as the blond hair, blue-eyed superhero fighting Nazis and the Japanese in World War II.

His trademark was his red white and blue costume. For this time, he was a hero that well represented the America of the 1940's.

Now here comes America of the 21st century. The melting pot that once described this country is very much alive. What makes many other countries hate us is what makes the United States of America unique--a multi-racial democracy.

A revamping of Captain America was long overdue even if it meant killing the original character in the process to achieve this goal.

Will Marvel Comics stick to this current plot or will they fall prey to other storylines like that of the death of Superman when DC decided to bring the character back only a year later.

I believe the current status of Comic books is a dying art form in desperate need of revamping. This may be one of the turning points that will jump start this industry once again.
