Cinnamon Brown's Myspace Account

The telephone rings about 1 PM on a sluggish Saturday afternoon. I quickly answered the phone; it is Cinnamon Brown for our one o’clock phone interview. I recently had the delight of interviewing Cinnamon thru electronic mail but had hoped for a more personable chat session.

As we said our howdies, Cinnamon immediately blurts out that she is missing Atlanta and cannot wait to come back. She also hints that she is currently working on some new tracks and has a photo shoot scheduled for October 28, 2007.

Cinnamon did give us the title of one of her new tracks entitled "Gotcha Money"; shh! this is top secret. The song is about a girl who gets revenge on a cheating boyfriend by spending all his money while he is in jail; needless to say, the cheating boyfriend is now broke. This track introduces a new female rapper, Odessah, to the industry.

Our conversation continues with Cinnamon's response to not being signed to a label as of yet. Cinnamon, who has occupied the interview with laughter up until this point, continues in good spirits and states that the music business is a business like none other. Producers are looking to advertise a certain music sound and/or style.

This means that she must practice patience and stand in faith; her belief that God will help through it all keeps her steadfast. Additionally, Cinnamon firmly believes that if she does not believe in herself while making music or performing on stage then she will not have the motivation to give it her all.

Cinnamon is a huge fan of Rap/Hip Hop, Dancehall and Reggae music. Some of her biggest influences include the legendary Alicia Keys and Mary J Blige. As far as her overall dream goes, Cinnamon laughingly articulates that she wishes to sell lots of records. Yet, in the end, she would like to have a solid presence in the music industry so that she can position herself to help the less fortunate especially children who have been abused and sexually molested. While she has not experienced such abuse, she strongly feels that the needs of these types of children (and also orphans) can not be ignored.

So what can we look for in 2008 from Ms. Brown? Cinnamon is ready for a record deal. She expresses, “PLEASE, record deal--I’m here—I am ready”. One of Cinnamon's greatest joys comes from her MySpace comments section where she gets to read the stacks of positive feedback that she has been receiving from her fans. Some of the notable comments include "they love her and keep up the good work". Where will Cinnamon be in the next ten years? She speedily nations that the world is going to receive a very opinionated woman. One conclusive note, Cinnamon wants men and women to know that respect goes both ways.

When it comes to her music and what she is trying to convey with her music, Cinnamon says it is all about the “Girl Power”; women doing it for themselves. Cinnamon tells that she recently had someone comment that her music is like “something I heard before and never heard before”. Cinnamon also states that there are a ton of performing artists saying the same thing time and time again; Cinnamon depicts herself "as a different new chick”.

As we carried on our delightful conversation Cinnamon answers another query for probability of not copping a deal with a major label. Would she continue to create music? Cinnamon says that “IF SHE DOES NOT” acquire a record deal then it does not matter; music is in her bloodline. She will proceed to make and breathe music as long as she lives. In fact, alternative directions that she would engage would potentially be to start up her own label, become a producer, or a music instructor. Another question that I asked Cinnamon involved the creation process for her track “I Can’t Breath”. Cinnamon, who laughingly states, “As a songwriter, can I consider myself a songwriter? Does that sound weird? — a friend was having a problem with a relationship so this song was going to be the result of that relationship”. But, while she was in the studio performing the song, the song shifts gears, and it became a song about her own personal experiences with a deviant ex-boyfriend.

In thinking about the biggest names in the music business at the present moment, Cinnamon promptly announced that she would love to work with T.I., who she states is “very inspiring/very energetic”; other names that she cited would include Keisha Coles, T-Pain, Busta Rhymes, and Ludacris.

An additional response required Cinnamon to address how she feels while performing live on stage for her fans. She states that “it’s an adrenaline rush while performing live on stage. Besides, they [the fans] are paying good money so I give it my all”. She also states that she loves performing with a live band. I asked her if she would love to perform at Madison Square Garden. Cinnamon says that the BET Awards would fit the bill.

As we wrapped up our phone interview, I gave Cinnamon the floor for any last thoughts she would like to share with the readers of Juniorscave.com. Cinnamon hopes to be making music for a very long time and acknowledges that her fans will continue to support her.
