The old saying that being at the right time and right place means everything can certainly apply to this next group. For this southern California rock band, DURESS is at the right time and place at this moment with their music. The band was created in 2004 and continues to hold strong. I recently had a chance to do a quick Q & A with front man, Chad Anthony Benekos, who was gracious enough to answer some of our questions.
Band Members:
Singer/guitarist, Chad Anthony
Drummer, Marco Forcone
Guitarist, Cody Requejo
Bassist Mike Doyle
"DURESS is the result of friendship, hard work, and a determination for honest pure rock fury" (DURESS).

A. Chad Anthony Benekos; Born in Los Angeles, California in the mid 70's.
Q. How did you learn to play (sing) this kind of music?
A. I'm self taught.
Q. When did you start to learn? (How old were you?)

A. Fullerton, California.
Q. How long have you been actively playing this kind of music?
A. Ever since!
Q. What is it about this kind of music that makes it different from other types?
A. Not too sure about that.... I think all types of music have some sort of common bond somehow.

A. Sure... it seems to me that every type of music has sub genres and things like that.

A. Not really the same as Duress but there's lots of bands in and around the Orange County and L.A. areas..... too many to list.
Q. Have you passed your tradition on to others, who and when? Why is this important to you?
A. If you mean do I teach guitar or have students, the answer is currently no. On the other hand, if others have been inspired by any of my current or past work then I'm flattered beyond words.
Q. What is your favorite song or tune to play?
A. Usually it's the most current thing I'm working on... but sometimes I just like to play and sing a Beatles song or something like that for fun.
Q. What makes a performance/song good? How do you judge a performance/song?
A. I think true passion and true intent are the most important things.
Q. Do you have anything else you would like to add?
A. Peace. Respect.
