iLLa Noise
Music Now Artist/Band Spotlight Weekly Series
iLLa Noise
This next Hip-Hop/Rap group is going to simply amaze music fans with their style of music which blends nicely elements of Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B, and Urban into one pimped-out sound. All members of iLLa Noise are blood born relatives which makes what they are doing together more meaningful. Our Webzine recently spoke to the young men behind iLLA Noise about their music and what makes them want to make music for the masses. Here is what the guys of iLLA Noise had to say on these and other matters. Here is the spotlight for your enjoyment.
Isaac: I just listened to several songs off your new EP/CD. What was the inspiration for making your new album?
iLLa Noise: Our inspiration for this album has largely to do with our life experiences, tribulations and overall brotherhood. We are all blood related and the story of how music even brought us more so together as a family really set the way for this album.
Isaac: Who were your influences?
iLLa Noise Our influences range vastly from legends like Marvin Gaye, Eddie Kendricks, Ahmad Jamal, Sade, Led Zepplin, Queen, Metallica to of course the more traditional rap artists like 2pac, Nas, J Dilla.
Isaac: What do you consider to have been the highlight(s) and lowpoint(s) of your career to date?
iLLa Noise: I'd have to say our highest points thus far has been performing for the prestigious Rock The Bells concert series, breaking into radio, and working with the legendary Johnny J.
Our low points would probably be when we first started doing music; Rejecting college, going against what we stood for, even being coerced by "industry professionals" all for the sake of our music. It's really been a long road to this point, wouldn't change it for anything.
Isaac: Brief history about your background plus the style of music you play.
iLLa Noise: We are all family but we split apart at young ages, my brother I moved on to Chicago while my cousins stayed in Los Angeles and didn't reunite until our adulthood, one thing we all had in common was the love and passion for music, we ended up moving back to L.A. and it all started from there. Musically sound, we are a fuse of old school hip hop with an artistic abstract touch of other genres; Rock, jazz, electro you name it, we've done it. We also have a new school - futuristic sound, smashed all into one pot.
Isaac: How easy is it to gets gigs for you as an artist? What is the live music scene like in your area?
iLLa Noise: It's fairly simple, as long as you have an open and honest relationship with the promoters most everything goes smoothly, it all comes down to your promotion side of things if you really want a nice buzz and constant opportunity. The music scene in Chicago is great, the main bread & butter is House and Rock music, which has an influence on all artists out here. L.A. is great as it is more of a Hip-Hop hotbed, having that exposure and experience to both has given us great insight as musicians all around.
Isaac: What do you think of the state of Indie music at the moment? Do you listen to radio much at all? Has the Internet helped music grow or hindered it in your opinion?
iLLa Noise: We think it's great that the power has shifted now more than ever into the hands of the artists. If you truly are business minded and have great music, there are really no limits as to what you can do now. We always keep our ear to radio, the radio will always be a median between the fans and the band so it will remain integral, but we do tend to lean more so to satellite than traditional. The Internet has made it not only more affordable for artists but more opportunities have risen due to it, including shows, satellite radio and of course the great fans!

Isaac: If you could create a fantasy band - what would be the line-up and why?
iLLa Noise: Definitely ?uest Love of the Roots on Drums, Ahmad Jamal on Keys, Grover Washington & Johnny Watson, with iLLa Noise on vocals and Lou Courtney accompanying. I think it would be the most awkward looking band but the most dope sounding, kind of like Gnarls Barkley but with way more Soul!
Isaac: What CD's do you currently have available and where can they be purchased from?
iLLa Noise: Our first official commercial CD is set to release May 25th, it will be available on all major digital outlets (i.e. iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody. etc) and on hard copy through order from our website directly.
Isaac: Where can fans access your music, videos, blogs, and anything else about you online?
iLLa Noise: Currently you can tune in directly to Sonicbids.com/iLLaNoise we will be updating all of our information weekly, from our official website to our album & documentary release!
Isaac: Message to your fans?
iLLa Noise: Thank you all who have been supporting us from the time we started to now. Without you guys, the churn may not burn! I'd like to send an extended thank you to all the artists who we have collaborated with on this album and of course the great Isaac Davis for giving us this interview and opportunity; We love and appreciate you all!
