Music Spotlight: Mystic Roots Band



     

Reggae, hip-hop, rock band from Chico, California.

We are overly excited to bring you this next exclusive interview with a band whom we have been after for awhile to interview. The folks here at Music Now at Juniors Cave are proud to present Mystic Roots Band. One of the strongest points about the band is their sound; a mixture of Reggae, Hip-Hop and Rock. Hail all the way from Chico, California the band is sure to win the hearts of all Americans alike. Here is a recent on-line interview the members of the band took the time to complete for the magazine.

>>>The band yes. Our individual names, no.

MUSIC NOW: Have you filed your songs for copyright protection?
>>>Yup.

MUSIC NOW: Have any of your songs been published? (If so, by whom?)
>>>Yup. We own publishing. Stay Positive Publishing/ASCAP.

MUSIC NOW: What is your background? (Who are you and/or your band members? Tell your story.)
>>>Band started in Chico, CA as a bunch of college students. We have since moved to Southern California and picked up new musicians and now tour full time.

MUSIC NOW: Why do you want to record and release your own music? (Be very honest.)
>>>It's a real achievement holding a copy of your album in your hands too, especially as we're getting people all over the world praising it. We're hopefully doing something right!

>>>We have a message to spread and hope to make a living spreading the positive vibes.

MUSIC NOW Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
>>>Yes, and play some covers, versions and tributes.

MUSIC NOW: What image do you think your music conveys?
>>>Struggle, Love, Life, happiness and the HERB.

MUSIC NOW: What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.)
>>>Stay on the road and tour the world.

MUSIC NOW: What advices do you have for other bands trying to do what you guys are doing now?
>>>Don’t get tied down to ANYTHING.

MUSIC NOW: Do you consider yourselves role models to younger kids between the ages of 10-16?
>>>We hope so. We travel with kids sometimes and try to set them straight :) Stay away from drugs and violence. Respect your parents. Question the establishment. Read.

MUSIC NOW: What was the most craziest movement that happened on stage when you performed lived?

>>>People throwing things at us in Mexico like rocks and stuff, because they LIKED us?!?! Glad they didn’t hate us!!

MUSIC NOW: Who were your influences past or present?
>>>Bob Marley, Sublime, Pink Floyd, Tupac, KRS-ONE, Biggie, The Police, UB40.

MUSIC NOW: Who would you love to perform with on stage?
THE MARLEYS!

MUSIC NOW: What do yo hope that your fans will get from your music?
>>>Head nodding positivity.

MUSIC NOW: Now it is time for the shameless plus time guys: upcoming dates? new releases? etc.
>>>We will be on tour with and without Pato Banton ALL summer. Check our myspace page (www.myspace.com/mysticrootsband) or Mystic Roots.com for details. Working on a new album. Hopefully out this winter.
