Music Spotlight: Hwy Entertainment Records

Rap/Hip Hop/Southern.

Hwy Entertainment Records is forged from the minds of a few young men who had the vision to crave their own destiny in the music industry. Moreover, although plagued with certain circumstances these young men have come together to bring us the tightest logo's, spectacular beats, and lyricists with nice flows. The click consists of : Rob, Nate, ill Friss, Joe Bear, Clay Mac, Grip, KC, Lil James, and Lloyd. Don's close your eyes or you may miss what could very well be the next multi-platinum rappers in the hip hop industry. We had a chance to ask the click a few questions including some basic questions about the business side of the industry. One of the first questions we asked consisted about their stage name.

Q. Is your stage name trademarked? (If Not, is this something that you think is important to do and why?)
A. Yes! Hwy Entertainment Records' name is trademarked.

Q. Have you filed your songs for copyright protection? (Again, If Not, is this something that you think is important to do and why?
A. Yes!

Q. Have any of your songs been published? (If so, by whom?)
A. Yes, Ascap.

Now we wanted to get a little information about the background of the team and some basic information on why they want to record. The click had this to state about their background “in a small place located in the rural south, the Black Belt Region, bottom of the Delta, there emerged a click of young men. Certain circumstances brought these young men together, forming what is now known as Highway Entertainment Records, specializing in tight logo's, spectacular beats, and lyricists with nice flows. The camp includes: Rob, Nate, ill Friss, Clay Mac, Grip, KC, Lloyd and Joe Bear Pay close attention, these guys could very well be the next million dollar rappers in the hip hop world. Why do we want to record? Because making music is our passion. Recording is fun, and when you release your own music, you have total creative control. This allows us to express ourselves with no strings attached and no censorship. Who is our fan/customer? Anyone who loves hip hop”.

Next, we talked about the meaning of their songs and the message they are trying to convey to the audience. I found these next set of responses to be indicative of whom Hwy Entertainment Records is all about. In fact, when asked about what are their songs about? The click had this to state”we do club tracks, motivational and inspirational tracks, feel good tracks, somewhat hardcore tracks, and tracks that you can ride to. Do we write our own songs? Yes, we also produce, mix and master our own tracks. Our musical influences? Include but not limited to 2Pac, Scarface, Too Short, DJ Quick, Ice Cube, and UGK. Furthermore, in describing our music to people, we would illustrate it as “hip hop, not snap music but real rap music.

As we were ending the interview, I quickly wanted to ask the click on some of their career goals and their immediate plans. Here is what developed from those set of questions: What image do we think our music conveys? For the most part, enjoying life and have just having a good time. Our immediate goals include to start performing live and gaining some type of recognition. Having a strong presence on billboard charts. Our long term goals would include to eventually expand and start signing our own artists, get into real estate, and maybe get into film and acting.”.

When asked about how they define success, the click stated that “basically, when start profiting and are no longer struggling, that would be success. how do we rate our live performance ability? Well we haven't performed live yet, but a good prediction would be that we would move the crowd with nice flows and good stage presence. 'have we had any previous print or broadcast media exposure or reviews? Taxi did a review on 1 of our tracks about 2 years ago. Obviously, we had room for improvement at that time, but the overall review wasn't bad. Like a 3 overall out of a possible 5”.

Finally, I wanted to know about any possible new developments that the click could share with the readers of Junior' Cave. Here is what I discovered from them: “We we are currently promoting our most recent project, "Players & Hustlers". We are also producing tracks for our next project, "Concordia's Finest". It's going to be a compilation album”.

I hope everyone in Junior's Cave Land enjoyed this spotlight. Stay tune for more new & exclusive spotlight from the best in new, upcoming and indie music.
