Gospel Today is proud to present this next artist, Hadesa who was born on August 30,1976 in city everyone may be familiar with Chicago Illinois. Hadesa began perfecting her craft (singing) at a very early age in her church while writing her own songs at the age of nine. Hadesa's passion for singing and her love for God is evident in her music and her deliverance of it. I think once you get a taste of her music and what she is doing with it that you will feel the word, the music, and its message to us all.

Here is a quick Q & A for the people at Gospel Today that we wanted to share with everyone.
Q. What aspect of making music excites you the most right now?
A. The part of music that excites me the most is the writing. When you start with just a couple of words in your mind, and then on paper, somehow it all starts to unravel and fall into place while making sense. Now, finding the right music/melody is icing on the cake.
Q. What aspect of making music gets you the most discouraged?
A. Everybody sounding similar, no individuality and bubble gum music for the moment.
Q. What are you up to right now, music-wise?
A. I am currently working on completing my first solo CD, and I hope to have it out sometime later this
year. And I'm just searching for avenues to distribute the music. It's no good unless someone hears it.
Q. What's the most unusual place you've ever played a show or made a
recording?
A. The most unusual place I've recorded was in a bedroom the size of linen closet, literally. And the most unusual place I've performed was in my own backyard. There were only family there so the butterflies were really flying.
Q. How did the qualities of that place affect the
show/recording?
A. It only begins to affect you if you allow it too. And because I have faith in what God is doing with me, it did not affect me, these places make me stronger.
Q. In what ways does the place where you live (or places where you have
lived), affect the music you create, or your taste in music?
A. The Place where I grew up affects my music about a good 80-90%. I try and keep the
music as personal as possible, my reality, my truth. I am driven by the environment in, which I was brought up. I have a love/hate relationship with it.
But, it didn't affect my taste in music; I love just about every genre of music.
Q. When was the last time you wrote a song?
A. I write everyday.
Q. What can you tell us about it?
A. It's good! (lol)
Q. As you create more music, do you find yourself getting more or less
interested in seeking out and listening to new music made by other
people...and why do you think that is?
A. I love hearing new music by others, and I am a fan of music and the way it affects people. Besides, someone may do a rift that you never thought of and you can find a way to make it your
own; it's a learning process and your never too old or too good to learn from someone else.
Q. Lately what musical periods or styles do you find yourself most
drawn to as a listener? (Old or new music? Music like yours or different from
yours?)
A. I find myself like [ing] a combination. I can go from gospel, hip-hop, to
country and alternative. I tend to listen to what I am in the mood for no matter
what time period.
Q. Name a band or musician, past or present, who you flat-out LOVE and
think more people should be listening to. What's one of your all-time
favorite recordings by this band/musician?
A. There are so many musicians that have influenced me, but I will say Tracy Chapman and India Arie. They don't sugar coat the truth in their music. If i have to chose a song, “I'm ready” by Tracy Chapman and “Beautiful” by India Arie. They find ways to speak to the soul.
Q. What's the saddest song you've ever heard?
A. I haven't written it yet; too painful.
