COLLEGE FOOTBALL October 31, 2005

Florida Gators hand the Georgia Bulldogs the first loss of the season which to many Georgia fans is a huge disappointment. The Bulldogs have had an undefeated season until playing the Florida Gators. When it comes to playing the Gators something happens to Georgia and we end up losing. The track record shows 2 wins out of 14 so playing the Gators seem to be a hard task for the Bulldogs.
Chris Leak threw a touchdown pass and ran for a score as the Gators used an impressive performance to take down the previously unbeaten Bulldogs 14-10 on Saturday as what is known the World's Largest Cocktail Party.
No. 16 Florida defeated its rival to the North for the 14th time in the last 16 meetings and kept alive hopes of winning the SEC East and returning to the league title game for the first time since 2000.
Many folks counted Florida out after a horrible loss against LSU but now they are back in the race for the SEC.
The fourth ranked Bulldogs (7-1, 5-1) don't require help in the SEC. They need to win out to advance to the conference championship game for the third time in four years. In the national race, Georgia is all but done.
The Gators need to beat Vanderbuilt and South Carolina and have Georgia lose one of its remaining games against Auburn and Kentucky to win the division.
Playing without injured quarterback D.J. Shockley, Georgia was an underdog in a series that has been dominated by Florida since former coach Steve Spurrier took over in 1990.
Defensive end Jeremy Mincey made three huge plays on Georgia's final two drives. He tackled Thomas Brown for an 8-yard gain that prevented points early in the fourth quarter. Georgia had to settle for a 52-yeard field goad attempt, which hit the right upright.
Mincey also affected two passes by Tereshinski on the last drive. He batted one down one at the line of scrimmage and nearly sacked the quarterback on fouth down. Tereshinski’s desperate pass fell incomplete, and the Gators ran out the clock.
Florida could have added to the 14-3 lead just before halftime, but Wynn fumbled.
The Bulldogs scored on a trick play in the third quarter to gain momentum. Tereshinski handed off to Brown as he was falling to the ground. The running back started right and then threw back across the field to Tereshinski, who made a nice catch in front of Todd McCullough and stretched into the end zone. But that was the only highlight for the Bulldogs.
The final score was 14-10 in favor of the Gator's. .

COLLEGE FOOTBALL October 10, 2005

After the loss to Tennessee last year UGA passed one of its biggest test of the season with a win of 27-14. No. 5 Georgia stayed undefeated and on course for a trip to the Southeastern Conference championship while Tennessee falls to No. 17.
With only two more difficult games left on its league slate, Florida and Auburn, Georgia controls the East division. The last time the Bulldogs started 5-0 was 2002 when they won the SEC.
Georgia led 13-0 in the third quarter after Southerland's 1-yard touchdown run and two field goals by Brandon Coutu.
Wade set up the Vols' first touchdown when he intercepted Shockley and returned it 34 yards to the Georgia 1 in the third quarter. Rick Clausen sneaked over the pile to score on the first play, giving the Vols the momentum but that momentum was short lived.
Thomas Brown added an 18-yard touchdown run with 1:44 left to pad Georgia's lead. The Vols scored their second touchdown as time expired, a 24-yard pass from Clausen to Robert Meachem.
The Bulldogs got a boost in the SEC East standings when Florida lost to Alabama last week, and Georgia has a favorable schedule to win the division.
Bulldogs will play Vanderbilt next Saturday at 7:15 pm in Nashville, TN.

Jeff bunted after him which ended up with an out but 2 men on second and third for scoring position. Another rookie was walked and the bases are loaded at the top of the 14th inning with one out. McCann strikes out and the bases are still loaded with 2 outs now. Orr hit a ball to third and ended out the inning. The Braves could not pull out a run with the bases loaded and only one out.
The Houston Astros took the lead in the bottom of the 18th inning with a final score of 7-6. This is the longest game run in the Division series since 1995.
