Eric Clyde Gill and Sol Leon Chance talk comics with Junior Davis

Hello Folks, I had the pleasure of speaking to two young men, Eric Clyde Gill and Sol Leon Chance , this Saturday morning. This is what Close to the Coast is all about; spotlighting folks in the community and surroundings area. Well, these two men are doing something that I have always dreamt of doing next to starting my own magazine- they are starting their own comic book company with tons of original characters and storylines to no ends. What makes this company stands out from the rest is what I learned in the interview.

We met on a beautiful Saturday afternoon around noon at Books-A-Millions in Joe Mugs, the coffee café. As I was seated across from Eric in the café’s seating area, I glanced to look at the array of folks in the café. As I begin to get comfortable sipping on my Sam Choice’s water, I begin to press record on my digital recorder and plug in an external microphone so I could ensure I would pick up on every word from the two men.

Here is the Interview I had with Eric and our very own Games and Comics Editor, Sol.

JD: Eric, how are you doing today?
EG: I am doing well.

JD: Before we get started, could you tell us a little about yourself?
SC: (playfully saying) I guess we can’t cuss on here.
JD: No, (laughing) I really have this digital advice for me-old age. So, Eric tell us about yourself?
EG: Well, it is not much to tell. My full is Eric Clyde Gill, um…. do I need to go into more details? (pause for a second) I am 29 years old. That’s about it. I really do not think abut myself much.

JD: Ok, I heard from a reliable source (looking over at Sol’s way) that you are working on a new project? Could you tell me and our audience a little about the project?
EG: It is a book about Werewolves and Vampires pretty much. Our favorite thing! And before Underworld came out, we were talking about a Hybrid of sorts but we did not get our out in time.
JD: So, you guys are going to scratch that idea.
EG: No, we are going with it. I never did like the look of the Hybrid in Underworld but we are still going with our idea but in a different way. (laughing) We have changed the storyboard so many times…

DROMEDARY: A "GORGEOUS GLOBE-TROTTING EXPERIENCE" AT THE RITZ

Audiences are in for a real treat when the amazing musical duo, Dromedary,
comes to Brunswick's historic Ritz Theatre, January 20, 2006, for a
one-night only show of their unique blend of music influenced by cultural
traditions around the world.  This acclaimed act from Athens, Ga., has been
featured on NPR and at sold-out concerts around the world.

Masters of multiple instruments Andrew Reissiger and Rob McMaken create a
sound that both retraces and forges paths between cultures. These two
outstanding musicians play world music in a truly American way, mixing
seemingly disparate elements and creating unexpected beauty. You'll hear a
touch of the Andes, Portuguese Fado, Appalachian dulcimer and mandolin,
gypsy flamenco and Eastern European Klezmer - a unique and rewarding musical
experience.

On their latest release, the group travels even farther afield to perform
not only traditional music from world cultures but the work of contemporary
artists, such as British group Radiohead and jazz great Bill Evans, as well
as McMaken and Reissiger's original compositions.

Reissiger and McMaken liven their shows with information about the rare and
traditional instruments they play and the cultures that created them (and
will present educational workshops in Glynn County schools while they are in
town).  Audiences and teachers can link to their website and other sites
that provide information about the music and instruments Dromedary plays by
going to www.goldenislesarts.org (click on "Performing Arts Series" in the
navigation menu).  That adds up to both an entertaining and enriching
experience for audiences of all ages, perfectly in tune with the theme of
GIAHA's 2005-2006 Performing Arts Series, "Beyond Borders."
What the critics have said about Dromedary:
"A gorgeous globe-trotting experience."
"Dromedary taps into that universal good place every time they step on
stage."

"They have transformed folk that is as old as the hills - made it new and
fresh again through their exhuberant playing."  "Intoxicating.achingly beautiful."

Dromedary performs at Downtown Brunswick's historic Ritz Theatre, Friday,
January 20, 2006, at 8:00 p.m.  Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for
students and seniors (general admission).  Tickets are available at the Ritz
box office, 1530 Newcastle St., Brunswick (one block north of Gloucester
Rd.) Tuesdays through Fridays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m., or by calling 912-262-6934.

Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association (GIAHA) is the coordinating
arts council for the City of Brunswick and Glynn County and managers of Mary
Ross Waterfront Park and the Ritz Theatre, Downtown Brunswick's historic
theatre and arts center

Grandpa dies from reaction on hearing of childrens' death
Date: January 26, 2006 5:12 pm ET

A Family's pain

Barbara Mann, the mother of the Mann children, is traumatized at the crash scene over the news that her children have perished. And if Ms. Mann's grief was not enough, the Grandfather dies when he hears the news that the seven children were killed last night. When news of the crash hit the grandfather, he was so upset over the news he had a massive heart attack and died, the children's mother said.

"I lost my daddy tonight," Barbara Mann cried on Wednesday. "My dad died of a massive heart attack tonight over all this. He lost all seven of his grandkids ... I can't deal with this."

Mr. William Scott, who was 62, died at his home.

Crash Kills Seven Kids
Date: January 25, 2006 11:32 pm ET

Crash Kills Seven Kids
One of the sadest and horrific crashes in a long time, one official said. The accident, which took place in Lake Butler, FL caused a chain-reaction crash involving a car, tractor-trailer and a school bus full of innocent children took the lives of seven children Wednesday afternoon.

The victims range in the ages as young as 20-months and no older than 15-years-old.

The location of the Crash was on State Road 121 in Union County near Lake Butler shortly after 3 p.m. this afternoon.

Evidence suggested that the the tractor-trailer slammed into the car, a Pontiac Bonneville, which had stopped behind a stopped school bus.

From the Evidence, it appears that the truck didn't brake before hitting the car.
