JC Interview Exclusive: Adam Bouska

Adam Bouska

Adam Bouska, who runs a photography studio based out of West Hollywood, California, is an award winning American fashion photographer. He has been recognized for his amazing capture of the male form in his visually stunning photos. We, at Junior’s Cave, recently caught up with the photographer who was more than willing to share a part of his world with our readers.

Isaac: It is a pleasure to feature you on our Internet magazine. Let's start off by talking about your hometown of Decatur, Illinois. Briefly describe your up bringing.

Adam: I lived most of my life in Clinton, Illinois, a small farm community with a rough population of about 7,000 people. There wasn't much to do in town, no malls, movie theaters, or any bar you'd risk hanging out in, so I spent majority of my time painting, drawing, working out or gaming :)

Isaac: You are an 80's baby. Growing up in the 90's must have been fun for you. How growing up in the late 80 and 90 has’s helped shaped your decision to become a photographer?

Adam: It was a great time, fashion wise and technologically. My life has always been a portion of both, worked perfectly into a career where I can still thrive in both.

Isaac: You moved to West Hollywood, California where you opened your Photography Studio. How important was it to make that move from Decatur, Illinois to West Hollywood? What have been some rewarding opportunities that you have been afforded since living and working in West Hollywood?

Adam: There were many pit stops and failures on the way, but finally establishing myself in West Hollywood allowed me to feel more confident about my work and what I do. After not even living here a full year the community honored me with a local award portraying the community in a beautiful way, it was so amazing to see a community so welcoming and supportive! I've since worked with local bars, companies, promoters, producers, directors, magazines, on an array of projects all within the community. I haven't advertised yet, just shows how important one's community is to who they are and what they do.

Isaac: Adam, you are known for your amazing pictures of male models in particular. What has been your motivation to capture the essence of the male form?

Adam: There are many forms of male beauty, not one specifically better than the other. I want to show how each model uniquely possesses their own version 'male perfection'.

Isaac: In the gay community, you are considered a rising 'superstar photographer', how important is it for you as an openly gay male to have the support of the GBLT community and why?

Adam: The community has given so much to me, opportunity and support of where I am and who I am today. My career wouldn't work in any other city as it has in West Hollywood.

Isaac: You have an impressive résumé so far with notable works in printed magazines such as DNA Magazine and refresh. What have been some of your favorite printed works that you have done so far?

Adam: My 2009 calendar is one of my favorite publications! It was such an amazing experience and representation of my work. I was able to design the calendar from front to start and worked with the amazing Jeff Parshley to produce it : ) The project included alcohol sponsors: Absolut Vodka, Patron, Bacardi-O, Chambord, Jagermeister + more!

Isaac: One of my favorite works that you have done include working with Armani Exchange model, Ryan Barry. I also enjoyed your works with several of the American Top Model's models. How are you able to capture such visually stunning pictures of your models?

Adam: I believe the energy between the model and photography plays a key role into the success of a photo shoot. Working with professionals (like Ryan and the top models) they know how to conduct themselves in front of a camera. Experience really shows through. Not to mention personality!

Isaac: Could you elaborate on some new projects that you are working on that will be released soon?

Adam: In this month's reFRESH UK, there will be a showcase of my work featuring Marco Dapper. Also, I've been compiling a book of celebrity portraits that I'll soon have more info on. Biggest news I have to offer is that my business is moving into a larger space. I've recently purchased a space that I'm dedicating to be the new studio and with it will come new state of the art equipment and a custom design by myself. I've been working towards this stage for a while and I'm confident it will help me to focus more on my passion.

Isaac: Let's talk about you personally. You are one sexy man yourself. When you are modeling, how do you approach it?

Adam: Informally as possible! That's how it should be : ) ..ahh and with a shot of vodka, did I mention that?

Isaac: How supportive has your family and friends been to your passion?

Adam: My mother has always encouraged me artistically since I was young. They've always been behind me 100% and continue to be a big part of my career to this day.

Isaac: Is there a special someone in your life? And if yes, how is he able to handle all of your success?

Adam: Ahhh, yes. There is. We met through the industry indirectly. He’s been able to bring out different sides of me, and constantly challenges me to take it to the next step. He’s s super supportive and I couldn't ask anything more of him.

Isaac: For those up and coming photographers, what advice do you have for them?

Adam: Nobody is going to make it happen for you. Experience can be gained daily. It doesn't take an expensive camera or money to create art.

Isaac: Shout out time to anyone and everyone you would like to give a holla at:

Adam: Hollaaaaaaaaaa to everyone who has been following my work and supporting me. I'm extremely devoted to learning more about photography and art. Looking forward to wherever this may take me. You can follow my work on my blog at: http://www.bouska.net or on MySpace at http://blog.myspace.com/bouska

JC Interview Exclusive: JMIAH

JMIAH

A man of many talents Jeremy Williamson (Jmiah) is certainly one of the busiest people on the planet Earth. In fact, this model, designer, fitness expert, and motivational speaker is also an entrepreneurial. A native of Augusta, Georgia, Jmiah has always dreamed of being a person of quality and essence. At the age of 13, Jmiah was diagnosed with diabetics (Type 1) with a blood sugar level of 680. From that pivotal moment, Jmiah dedicated his life to being healthy and staying well. Another important aspect of Jmiah's life is his personal relationship with God. He has completed a number of great things as a youth minister and continues to work with the youth. Junior's Cave is proud to introduce to our audience Jmiah.

Isaac: Jmiah, it is a pleasure to be speaking with you in this format. I wanted to state to you that after reading your bio, I was instantly a fan of yours. I love what you are doing. One thing I noticed in your bio is that you grew up in Augusta, Georgia. Describe growing up in Augusta, Georgia.

Jmiah: Well, thanks Isaac! I’m a fan of yours too!! Growing up in Augusta was like… I dunno how to explain it, but think of the perfect suburbia life. It’s not too big of a city, yet not too small either. Nice place and I don’t know if I could ever move away… right yet! Haha The cost of living here is fantastic versus LA, MIAMI, or NYC… so I enjoy that part. Flipside… I can travel to other cities and not have to live there to deal with it every day either. I was able to enjoy country life and some city life growing up… I kinda like having a balance of them both, ya know? We gotta have rest from all the hustle and bustle.

Isaac: One of the most pivotal moments in your life was when you were diagnosed with diabetes when you were 13 years old. You almost died during this time. How were you affected by this diagnosis and what changes did you make in your life to adjust?

Jmiah: At that time, I had NO IDEA what diabetes even was! But I had parents always telling me I could do whatever I wanted to in life if I applied myself. So, I just saw the positive side to it and decided I was gonna be the best diabetic there ever lived! ? They [doctors] said I’d be back in the hospital with complications, but I never had to be admitted or an ER experience until I was 22 yrs old. And that was just from waking up around 5am, taking my morning shot too early and went back to sleep. I was woken up by my wife at the time around 9am with my brother and paramedics all around. My doctor and diabetes educators taught me well and I just paid close attention to what they said. I can say to this day I appreciate what they taught me… it’s helped me understand the fitness industry as well and all those supplements on the market.

Isaac: When you were in High School, you began to play sports heavily. You also begin partying too including doing drugs. What caused you to decide that partying and doing drugs were not for you?

Jmiah: Man, oh man! Well… I tried just about everything because I had that wild oat sowing era too. Ha ha! My high school graduation party was the big time determining factor, or what happened that night was. I was on my 2nd beer, wasn’t feeling hot, so I walked outside. When I was out there… man, it was like… I have no way to explain it other than God spoke to me. I heard a vivid voice tone saying, “You don’t want that.” I literally heard it as I looked around. I know some might think I’m crazy, but just thinking back that long ago makes it fresh again. I heard, “You don’t want that.” After the 2nd or 3rd time, I just KNEW what was going on… it was Him [Jesus] speaking to me. No one else could see or hear it but me. Everyone was inside partying DOWN, while I was being captured from within. I threw my drink down and said, “I’ve been living for the devil long enough, it’s time to do something for God.” So I ended up being the designated driver that night and didn’t even really have a good time anymore. I just felt out of place. They were all my friends so I just decided to be there for them and their protection. HAHA another story before that ever happened was when my mom busted me for smoking weed! Haha omg… it’s funny NOW!! I quit that stuff for the sole fact that I let her down and I hated letting my mom down. I was a mama’s boy, so I was always the one who tried to impress her, ya know? She always bragged on my brother and I… always sacrificed so we could have nice things. I dunno… it was mostly respect for her that I quit that stuff.

Isaac: Your relationship with God was created when you graduated from High School. What does being a Christian means to you?

Jmiah: I am SO glad you asked! Haha! Well, first of all, many have the WRONG idea of what a Christian is. Many think it’s about being “PERFECT” and that’s so wrong! Why do they think that? Well, because of so many judgmental people going around for generations preaching, “Rules and regulations of Christianity”. People think that’s all it is… do’s and dont’s to being a good person. The true meaning of being a Christian goes back to the meaning of the word, which means, “living in Christ.” Same as being an American… you live IN AMERICA, right?!?! But what does that mean? It means we are to spend our lives going after HIM, living and breathing to be with Him, and knowing that you are nothing without Him! It’s simply about a relationship with God! When I say that, the very same people always bust out with, “Well what about the ten commandments?!” I always reply with, “That’s between them and God.” Abraham Lincoln said, “No one has the right to govern another without their consent.” People need to just stop going around acting like they are the Holy Spirit trying to convict others and get to the commandment of LOVING GOD and LOVING EACH OTHER. Love will reach people much quicker than beating them with a Bible. Ok I apologize for the sermon, but that always gets to me deep down! LOL I think I hit a nerve with it! haha

Isaac: As you entered college life, many exciting things happened to you. Describe some of your bigger accomplishments during and after college.

Jmiah: College was fun and yet challenging but gave me foundational principles of life. Gosh, I’m so grateful for being as ignorant as I was and so hungry to learn. I was married to my ex wife during school and we had our daughter right after graduation… that could top anything else I could even imagine to list as an accomplishment. However… years later… we divorced. But it’s all good now, because it’s helped me become who I am today. After college, I went back to my home church in Augusta, and became the youth minister there… and WOW those were some awesome years I would never trade for ANYTHING!!! I learned so much in those days that prepared me for what I’m doing now… WOW!! Everything happened for a reason… and still is for what lies ahead. ;)

Isaac: Expound on New Life Christian Center (NLCC) and what are some of the things you are doing with NLCC.

Jmiah: NLCC is the coolest church in the world… I have to be biased because of my passion for the pastors there. They are the greatest most pure hearted people on the face of the planet. They aren’t perfect by any means, but they are REAL and that’s why I love and respect them so much. They’d give ANYTHING for those they love and they love a lot of people. We don’t always agree on things, but we’re always there for each other regardless. I’d stop answering your questions right now had they called and needed me for something. Haha I was youth pastor there for over 7 yrs. and man… tons of memories that jack up my emotions to this day. I had the BEST teenagers in my youth ministry for those years… and I mean the BEST!! I see some of them today with their own children and it’s just amazing. I love em all! Oh yeah… to answer the question haha my pastors knew my calling was outside the 4 walls of the church so they released me to go after what was burning in my heart… I travel a lot so I’m at church when I’m in town… and you learn to appreciate it when you can’t have it all the time. So many take “going to church” for granted.

Isaac: What are you hoping to gain out of life's journey?

Jmiah: Man… That’s a tricky question and a battle in the mind and heart all the time. I want to have all I’m destined to have yet I reeeeeeally only wanna stand before my Maker and have Him speak in affectionate tones that I did what He wanted me to do and that no matter how many times I messed up, He still loves me. That’s really all I want, ya know? That’s eternity. However, nice things in this life are REALLY COOL too! haha

Isaac: How important is your family to your own personal development?

Jmiah: Not sure I understand exactly what you’re asking, but my family is SOOOO very important to me… if I gain the world and all its success, yet lose my family… I didn’t accomplish what I wanted, ya know? On another note, my family’s encouragement and support is what helps develop me so that’s important too! ?

Isaac: What are you hoping to teach the youth about Health?

Jmiah: Well, you gotta look at two principals. One, the average American is overweight, and something has to be done. Two, people’s direction in life is usually determined by the choices they make or made as a teenager. With that in mind… if we can teach young people the importance, fun, and creativity of eating clean and being active, then we can change that statistic! I’m fully persuaded in it too!

Isaac: As a youth minister, how are you able to convey your love for God with your ministry.

Jmiah: Well, I’m not technically a youth minister any more, like as a youth “pastor” position in a church staff. I was launched out from that back in 2004 to pursue what I’m doing now. But to answer your question with the role of what I do now, then it’s ALL ABOUT PASSION!! Passion is what wakes me up in the morning to be the best I can be. Passion is what moves me when I’m working out. Passion is what shakes me when I’m working in the studio, doing photoshoots, designing clients marketing material, doing life coach phone consultations or whatever!! PASSION to be someone and do something with your life that will leave a mark on history! But most of all, to stand before my maker and Him tell me, “Good job!” Man, I long to hear those words.

Isaac: Ten years from now; where would you like to be at with your life?

Jmiah: Wow! That’s a tough question, because the past two years have been… so life changing. Had you asked me 10 yrs ago, I would’ve NEVER thought of where I am now! Haha To take a shot at it… if we’re all still here, I’d like to be investing my life into doing what I’m doing, but on a broader scale… no matter how famous I become, I’d like to still speak in high schools and events! I luuuuuuuv me some crowds… it’s like a totally adrenaline rush to have fun with people like that!! I loooove it!! I’m excited now just thinking about it! Haha, Every time I’m in front of a crowd, something jumps inside of me like pregnant woman with a baby moving around! haha

Isaac: Final Thoughts from Jmiah—

Jmiah: Final thoughts… if you gave me free reign, this could be a while! Haha Let me sum it to this… LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, and LIVE YOUR DREAMS!! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT IN LIFE… MAKE SURE IT’S WHAT’S IN YOUR HEART THEN STOP AT NOTHING TO ACCOMPLISH IT!! DO WHAT PEOPLE THINK IS IMPOSSIBLE, BECAUSE YOU CAN!!!!! YOU CAN!!! If you ever feel like you can’t, then book an appointment with me to be your life coach… I’ll jack you up like ten red bulls! Haha, LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH and THANK YOU for everything!

JC Interviews Exclusive:

Junior’s Cave prides itself on interviewing the followers of the indie culture. For those who are unfamiliar with this term, Wikipedia.com describes indie culture as an avant-garde lifestyle which follows social trends that consciously deviate from the mainstream. The uniqueness of its followers is appreciated here at Junior’s Cave and from time to time, we are privileged to interview one who feels as we do; Brian Peeler, BRAVO’S WORKOUT, recently honored us with a phone interview, and I quickly came to realize that while he too appreciates the indie culture, he’s really just a good old North Carolina boy.

I immediately noticed that Brian was personable, with oodles of southern hospitality and charm. As I began the process of dissecting Brian’s background, he allowed the questions to flow naturally since he provided high energy responses to my queries. I quickly learned that Brian grew up in a small North Carolina town that boasts a population of about 2,600 people; growing up in this small community is the main reason for allowing him to remain grounded. This close knit community provided the foundation that continues to shape Brian’s family values, beliefs, and opinions so that he is able to bring his special brand of small town attitude to America and eventually the world.

In fact, Brian Peeler is the vintage family man. He makes time for his family by travelling at least twice a year to North Carolina even though he now lives in Los Angeles. One of the interesting elements to our conversation was when Brian revealed that he spent 9 months as a Flight Attendant; he left just before 911. Also, Brian moved to Miami to get into acting and modeling. Although he had some success with modeling and acting, Brian knew that real contenders in this particular profession needed to live in pr near what he calls, the “Television Fitness Mecca”, Los Angeles.

Brian describes Los Angeles as a place where one could never get bored. Furthermore, Brian as a heterosexual male is an advocate of the gay community. Living in Los Angeles in fact supports his passionate belief that respect and dignity is for everyone no matter one’s sexual proclivity, race, gender etc. As a matter of fact, Brian carries this belief back to his home town whenever he visits. He wants to make the people of his hometown aware of the negative and hostile attitudes that many have against the LBGT community.

As a personal trainer on a hit reality show on Bravo, Brian has remained grounded as a person. He doesn’t let his star status influence him in a negative way. He realizes that in order to help people one cannot be above them emotionally or mentally. This drive has prompted Brian to pitch for a new show that he has stated will focus primarily on fitness and about truly helping people. He does not want a show whose primary focus is say sex. As far as reality series goes, Brian knows if his show is picked up some drama will follow; that is a part of television. When asked about whether WORKOUT is scripted, Brian exclaims that, “what you see is what you get”. The disagreement one sees on the show is all real. When asked about the possible pitfalls that he has encountered while being on a reality series, Brian explains that a series like WORKOUT requires a lot of one’s time.

Brian also revealed that being on the television show has not per se garnered him additional clients. The truth of the matter is that Brian has received a few more star clients but with his scheduling and their schedules don’t always meet.

To switch the mood of the conversation, I asked Brian what type of lady would catch his eye. Brian attempts to laugh this off but he eventually reveals that she has to be pretty, a great conversationalist, have aspirations and finally she needs to be able to love him for him. One of the most pivotal moments in Brian’s life was the passing of his best friend Doug . Brian’s biggest pain consisted of having to relive it three times: one time when it happened, another time when the episode aired, and a finally time when people would offer their condolences. Brian says Doug will always be with him and he knows that Doug is watching over him.

In closing, I asked Brian to provide a final statement about the current state of fitness in America. Brian’s personal philosophy as follows:

“If you do not take care of your body which is your home, then where are you going to live?”- Brian Peeler

These are wise words from a very intelligent, handsome, yet down to earth person.
