The world of commercial fashion will put on its best ever show in order to mark the sixtieth edition of SIMM, the Madrid International Fashion Fair, which is due to take place between 17th and 19th July at Feria de Madrid. On this occasion, this important event within the history of the fair organized by IFEMA, which serves as a key point of reference for the Spanish clothing industry, will feature the participation of around six hundred companies and more than one thousand clothing brands, all of which will present their latest collections for Spring-Summer 2009.

At this edition, SIMM will once again bring together an entire range of products and services aimed at members of the industry, an exhibition that is quite unique in Spain due to its variety and diversity, featuring the participation of a number of prestigious international brands and their outstanding fashion trends and approaches. These innovative ideas under the headings of men's fashion, women's fashion, underwear, swimwear and accessories will be distributed throughout the various sections of the fair known as GALA, PERLAS, ALMA -with its Sections known as AGUA, TIERRA and ENERGÍA -, ETERNA, LIBRE, HOMBRE and PRONTO MODA. In total, the fair will present a net exhibition area measuring some 20,700 square meters at this edition, distributed throughout Halls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 at Feria de Madrid. One of the most important new features at this edition of SIMM will be the presentation of the Swimwear, Underwear and Fitness Fashion Exhibition known as ALMA AGUA, coinciding with the boom that these clothing items are now enjoying within the world of fashion. This section, located in Hall 4 and featuring a different decorative style to the rest of the fair, will bring together a large number of Italian, Brazilian and Spanish companies and all of the most refreshing designs for next season. A catwalk located in the same area will stage daily fashion parades of the collections presented by the companies DIM, Wonderbra Swimwear and Shock Absorber, as well as those of the Spanish group, Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, and the Brazilian brands taking part at the fair.

The large contingent of Brazilian companies participating in the swimwear section and other parts of the fair is based on Brazil's leading role at this edition of SIMM, in accordance with its status as Guest Country on this occasion. Thus, within the framework of this programme, the fair will feature the participation of some 24 Brazilian companies. These participants will be located in the sections of the fair that correspond to the type of fashion they produce. These exclusive designs, which are packed with imagination, freshness and fashion appeal, will be one of the great attractions at this edition of the fair. The Guest Country initiative, which commenced at last February's edition with Portugal as Guest of Honour, aims to help promote the fashion and clothing industry of the country in question, along with the companies and designers that make up the industry.
