Todd Sloan (Guitar/Vocals), Josh Gilmore(Bass), and Mike Rundle (Drums) have created the perfect sound that will blow you away when you hear them perform. The three band members, who make up the indie band low-fi, are making music that is fun and full of energy. In this recent spotlight with two of the members of the band, our Webzine gets up close and personal with low-fi.

Isaac: What was the best part of 2008 for you musically?

low-fi/ Josh: Looking back, I think the best thing about 2008 was playing live shows all over the Pacific Northwest and beginning to write new tunes. I think a lot of bands get worn down from playing the same songs over and over without any experimentation. You have to be able to stay interested in what you are doing and I think that collaborating on new songs and ideas is the best way to keep the music fresh and moving in a positive direction.

Isaac: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment for 2008?

low-fi/ Todd: I think our biggest accomplishment was having our music video for 'Where You Are' featured on two Music Television shows in the New York/ Tri State area. Home Grown Video (http://www.livemusicmedia.net/) picked us up and we received the most votes from there viewing audience in Sept. 08'.

Our video was also picked up by IndiMusic TV(http://www.indimusictv.com/) and aired on their premiere episode. We placed in the top 5 as voted for by their viewing audience for that season. Both shows are going to be airing our brand new video for our song 'War' this season as well; IndiMusic TV on May 29th and Home Grown Video every Saturday in June of 09'.

Isaac: Describe the music scene in area.

low-fi/ Todd: The music scene in Boise, ID is growing and full of some great talent. One of our favorite bands, 'Built to Spill' is still the biggest name to come out of Boise but some lesser known hard working bands are emerging right now. The Universal, The Very Most and Finn Riggins are just a few of the bands that you may hear about, outside of Boise in the near future.

We, (low-fi), were recently featured along with the bands I just mentioned and Doug Martsch of 'Built to Spill' on a live and local compilation CD called Rotating Tongues 2 (http://rotatingtongues.com/wp/). We've also got some great live music venues in town such as the Neurolux, The Visual Arts Collective and The Knitting Factory.

Isaac: What has been the best venue to perform at and why?

low-fi/ Todd: In Boise, my favorite venue to perform at is The Visual Arts Collective. They are a Music Venue/ Recording Studio/ Art Gallery. The owners Samual Stimpert, Anneliessa Stimpert and Steve Fulton went the extra mile to put in a top of the line sound system that really compliments the acoustics of the room. The atmosphere is always friendly, with great visual aesthetics and great crowds!

Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?

low-fi/Josh: We have been on the outskirts of the music industry for as long as I can remember. I think what influences us the most is our own drive and determination to be great at what we do.

Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?

low-fi/Josh: Just plain good and tasteful music.

Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?

low-fi/Todd: We dig Pinback, Built to Spill, Wilco, etc.. And would be humbled to work with any one of them. I would like to work with any of these groups because I love their songwriting first and foremost. It would also be incredible to be able to pick their brains and get some first-hand accounts of the experiences they have had during their careers.

Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?

low-fi/Josh: Hook-laden poppy rock with clever melodies and structure.

Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from fans about your music?

low-fi/Josh: I think our music appeals to a wide demographic of people. Most feedback I would say is genuinely positive. When you have someone who is honest and not worried about just saying "nice show" or "sounded great tonight guys", or even, "why aren't you guys huge yet?!" that goes a long way. I try to give my friends and fellow musicians an honest assessment of how I feel after watching someone's live set or listening to a new album as well.

Isaac: Where can fans locate you at online?

Isaac: What can fans expect from you in the next five years?

low-fi/Josh: Some great tunes and hopefully 2-3 more albums.

Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans…

low-fi/Todd: All we can say is thanks so much to our friends, family and fans for supporting our musical dreams and aspirations over the years. So far the journey has been the fun part and hopefully some day we will be able to look back on a long and successful career in the Music Industry.

Isaac: Final words…

low-fi: Go buy our album, it's called "Where You Are". Thanks so much for the support!
