New Music Spotlight: Seminole County

http://www.myspace.com/seminolecounty

Man, my job keeps better and better. I love presenting new music to our readers on this online magazine. I think that showcasing some of the best in the Indie Culture is what we do best. Here comes Seminole County, a true fusion of hip-hop and nu-metal rock. What I am digging about this duo is that they are bringing their two style of music into a powerful combination that is sure to entertain.

Established: 2003
Band Members:

Q. What aspect of making music excites you the most right now?
A. The most exciting part of making music is to express thoughts and experiences within our music that go through our minds. Music is a vehicle of emotions, above the borders of countries or languages the message can be understood, and we hope that our emotions reach out to people, at least some; (laughs)so that's pretty exciting. Also, that Indie bands get opportunities like this to even be heard through your magazine

Q. What aspect of making music gets you the most discouraged?
A. well, that's a tricky question as actually, besides the ability to be heard, making music never is discouraging. What is discouraging is the fact that there are so many people out there that believe they know the score and tell you what you should sound like. There are not many people you can trust especially in music biz, as you don't know what's behind their motives, so that's what is discouraging, but that’s not the music, that’s the industry.

Q. What are you up to right now, music-wise? (Current or upcoming recordings, tours, extravaganzas, experiments, top-secret projects, etc).
A. If we tell that here, it won't be top-secret anymore. ;) no, honestly, we just released our EP and took a break from touring and performing what we have done since our last album, which is more then one year ago now. Also we just moved with the studio and rebuild the whole studio from scratch, so that is taking a lot of time right now. Once that is done we will start working on out new album as we have many ideas for the new tracks that we will be doing.

Q. What's the most unusual place you've ever played a show or made a recording? How did the qualities of that place affect the show/recording?
A. At the end of the day, I think the crowd makes the show. So even in a little bar there can be a great atmosphere if the crowd gets into it. We played in bars, breweries and even restaurants where some people were still eating while we played. You asked about how the quality of the place affects the show... that answer is easy. It's drastically. If there is a bad sound, the best music simply would sound crap and won't hit the crowd. So we had some bad nights because of a bad sound, yes.

Q. In what ways does the place where you live (or places where you have lived), affect the music you create, or your taste in music?
A. We live in Florida and surely the place you life kind of affect your sound, but I am not sure in what aspects Florida affected our sound to be honest. When we were on tour in Europe, we got many impressions from the European music scene; we listened to a lot of radio during the long drives in the car. I think traveling affects us more then where we live.

Q. When was the last time you wrote a song? What can you tell us about it?
A. We are actually always writing music in our heads, even while we are doing something else. But the last song we wrote and produced together were the songs from the EP "Reasons" that is out now.

Q. As you create more music, do you find yourself getting more or less interested in seeking out and listening to new music made by other people...and why do you think that is?
A. We love to listen to other musicians and producers. We are always interesting to hear what they are up to. Also, as we have many friends in the industry that release music and naturally, we like to hear what they do. Nowadays, the music gets around the world within minutes, thanks to YouTube, MySpace and Viral Marketing. So we even love to listen to completely unknown producers from places in the world we didn't even know they exist.

Q. Lately what musical periods or styles do you find yourself most drawn to as a listener? (Old or new music? Music like yours or different from yours?)
A. We both are surely mainly into acoustic music, more the old school way, we both like Rock. But, we also won't switch the radio off for electronic music, downbeat and stuff like that. That's why we got the German DJ and Producer, Terry Lee Brown Jr., to remix one of our songs from the EP. We are open minded towards any kind of music, but our roots surely are into the Rock and Rap music.
