New Music Spotlight: V.I.P.
V.I.P.
You all may remember the very talented Cinnamon Brown who we had the pleasure to set up an online interview through her Entertainment Manager, Karl Sutton a couple of months back. Well, we have another treat. Karl is also managing this next act, and I am going to tell you folks they are hot. V.I.P. is sure to entertain you with their smooth R&B with a spice of Hip-Hop flavor. For more info on this act, check them out at their MySpace account. Please enjoy this great feature at Music Now on Juniorscave.com
Q. What aspect of making music excites you the most right now?
A. Create, write, and produce our own material.
Q. What aspect of making music gets you the most discouraged?
A. Discouraged about our music not being heard on a major level.
Q. What are you up to right now, music-wise? (Current or upcoming
recordings, tours, extravaganzas, experiments, top-secret projects,
etc).
A. Currently recording new material; we have tentative appearances and tour dates, and busy in the studio rehearsing choreography.
Q. What's the most unusual place you've ever played a show or made a
recording? How did the qualities of that place affect the
show/recording?
A. Recorded in a kitchen can you believe that? A studio in a kitchen, chicken grease popping everywhere [laughs]. Craziest place was an all ladies concert where we were attacked by women; our clothes came off faster then the lyrics we were singing although the group did not mind at all [smiles].
Q. In what ways does the place where you live (or places where you have
lived), affect the music you create, or your taste in music?
A. In Atlanta, we got to experience the aggressiveness of music in all types of music from R&B to Hip-Hop; on lyrics and hooks different from the Midwest which is where we represent.
Q. When was the last time you wrote a song? What can you tell us about
it?
A. Two days ago we wrote a slow jam written about a relationship (tainted) by the fact that the female is choosing to cheat with another woman, which turns out to be the same female the guy is cheating with.
Music Now: Damn!
Q. As you create more music, do you find yourself getting more or less
interested in seeking out and listening to new music made by other
people...and why do you think that is?
A. Yes, due to the fact we can examine the market for all types of music is going today (i.e. music videos and radio).
Q. Lately, what musical periods or styles do you find yourself most drawn
to as a listener? (Old or new music? Music like yours or different from
yours?)
A. Drawn to hip-hop (old/new school). We have been schooled by the old and taught by the new and the same with R&B which we have collaborated on with both.
Q. Name a band or musician, past or present, who you flat-out LOVE and
think more people should be listening to. What's one of your all-time
favorite recordings by this band/musician?
A. New Edition, Jodeci, 2pac, Brian McKnight, Stevie wonder, lil Wayne, and all other artists that are hot right now.
Q. What's the saddest song you've ever heard?
A. “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye” by Boys 2 Men.
Special Thanks to Karl Sutton, V.I.P. Entertainment Manager, for setting this up for the band.
